Dark Hero Arc My Hero Academia was one of the most shocking series featuring Deku playing the role of a vigilante. For the first time, the U.A. high school student fought alone, chasing after Shigaraki and All for One and turning his back on his fellow U.A. Previously, Deku had been one of the more optimistic heroes who prioritized teamwork, so his sudden shift to individualism and fighting on his own was jarring.
@ariem._.cosplay published cosplay My Hero Academia darkest hero arc, complete with high quality photography from @squirtlesquadphotography. Dark Deku’s appearance is radically different from Izuku’s usual appearance and his first hero costume. His vigilante hero costume looks menacing and looks more like a villain’s costume than a hero’s.
Hero @ariem._.cosplay’s green bodysuit with red pockets and white detailing is similar to Deku’s previous costume, but is visibly damaged, bearing marks and tears from past battles. They wear white gloves, black boots and a yellow scarf, and these colorful accessories bring the vigilante look together.
Hero Deku looks creepily villainous in dark Deku cosplay
His vigilante look is surprisingly sinister, with a mask hiding his face and his black whip quirk on full display.
The mask Deku wears in this arc completely hides his face, with only his glowing green pupils visible through the eye holes. His silver respirator still covers his mouth, but the rest of the dark green mask also obscures his entire face from view, with two pointy green “ears” on top. @ariem._.cosplay recreates the mask extremely accurately.reflecting the menacing aura he exudes in the anime and manga. Lastly, long black tentacles snake from behind Deku’s yellow cape in the cosplay image, symbolizing the hero’s Black Whip Quirk that he discovered shortly before the Dark Hero Arc.
Before using Blackweep’s power, Deku was completely unaware that he could use the quirks of past One For All wielders. This ability was the first to be discovered by a UA High School student. Being able to use the Quirks of One For All holders made Deku an even more outstanding fighter as he he now had a wider range of abilities beyond his own. The subtle inclusion of Blackweep in @ariem._.cosplay makes sense since it was the first of many Quirks that Deku would unlock one after another. @squirtlesquadphotography’s work behind the camera also gives the cosplay an even more terrifying feel, capturing Deku’s mood in this arc.
The Dark Hero arc features a melancholy version of Deku who fought alone.
His personality was very different from his usual cheerful personality, and his costume reflected this change.
The cosplayer leans forward intimidatingly, as if walking forward into a decisive battle. The lighting in the images is subdued, shrouding @ariem._.cosplay in ominous shadows that make the cosplay itself even darker. Deku has always been a passionate hero who dedicated himself to saving others and was like All Might, but in this arc his characteristic optimistic nature has diminished as recent tragic events and losses have broken his spirit. A mighty hero, of course, never risked turning to villainy, but this phenomenal My Hero Academia cosplay gives viewers an idea of what the villainous Deku might look like.
