The wider Marvel TV Universe is still canon to the MCU
Despite Cox and D’Onofrio appearing in MCU projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Hawkeye, And EchoMarvel Studios still did not give a definitive answer to the aforementioned canon question. Many have been wondering whether the versions of the characters are multiversal variants, completely canon to Netflix’s show, or whether they are connected very loosely to Netflix without open references, so the answer is ambiguous. However, one plot point in Daredevil: Born Again Confirms that Netflix’s shows are canon, once and for all.

Daredevil (& Punisher) doesn’t work without the other Marvel Netflix shows
All Marvel Netflix shows have to be canon, or none of them should be
To further build on the confirmation that the first three seasons of Daredevil are canon to Daredevil: Born AgainMarvel needs to match that the other Netflix shows are too. It seems like though The Punisher is treated as such, due to Bernthal’s return as the titular character in Daredevil: Born Again. However, the other shows are less certain for now. Nevertheless, the show needs to be confirmed as canon, as they are a long way from being made Daredevil And The Punisher Really works.

As a shared Marvel TV timeline/universe on Netflix, Daredevil And The Punisher Very tied to the other Netflix shows. While it could be argued that The Punisher was mostly self-contained, there are still little references to the wider Netflix sect of the MCU. Daredevil Was especially tied to the other shows because of his appearance and simply dead in The Defenderswhich is then referenced at length in Daredevil Season 3. With so much of the characters’ backstories connecting to the Netflix shows, all must be canon to the MCU now that Daredevil was confirmed as such.
Marvel Netflix is woven into the larger Marvel TV Universe
Shows from studios outside of Netflix should now exist in the MCU
To make matters more interesting, Marvel’s Netflix shows are tied to the wider television universe based on Marvel Comics characters. The other shows include Agents of SHIELD, RunawaysAnd Cloak and Dagger. Although there were no explicit appearances of characters from each side appearing on the other, there are several Easter eggs woven together. One example of Agents of Shield Sees a Judas bullet being used to destroy a speaker’s podium, a weapon brought in Luke Cage As a way of harming the indestructible titular character.

Marvel just introduced a lot of continuity problems…but it’s so worth it
The multiverse may be needed to explain Marvel’s continuity issues
With all of Marvel’s live-action TV shows being considered canon thanks to Daredevil: Born Again, The MCU now has many continuity issues. Admittedly, the Netflix shows don’t present too many issues of this kind, as they are mostly disconnected from the larger events of the MCU movies and some references to the Avengers Movies. Where most of the continuity issues arise is with Agents of Shield. For the first three or four seasons, Agents of Shield Connected closer and more openly to the MCU movies than anything in Netflix’s Marvel roster.
However, as the show progressed, The showrunners decided to move further away from the foundations of the MCU movies As a means of not limiting their narrative potential. This caused many continuity issues, especially in seasons 5, 6 and 7. For example, the last two seasons were chronologically set in the five-year time gap established in Avengers: Endgame. However, Thanos’ drop from the end of Avengers: Infinity War Is not mentioned at all, with the show taking its own direction.

Although it may be difficult for Marvel Studios to explain the consistency of continuity, there are ways in which it can be done, and after all, it is worth it so that the franchise can connect to the characters and stories. Agents of Shield Special is highly regarded as one of Marvel’s strongest TV shows, as are the characters it features. While the quality of some other Marvel TV shows may have left a bit to be desired, the potential of the myriad characters being part of the MCU still Daredevil: Born Again Make the timeline headaches so worth it.
After Charlie Cox’s cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and supporting role in She-Hulk: Lawyer at Law, Daredevil: Born Again gives Matt Murdoch his first show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
