Marvel’s Deadpool/Wolverine crossover begins with a ‘combo’ attack crazier than anything in its film

There are few team-ups in comics as popular as the pairing of Dead Pool and Wolverine. These two characters are so popular together that they even made a billion dollar movie together. With these two characters teaming up again, it’s no surprise that they created a ridiculous new combo attack.

Wolverine and Deadpool’s destructive combined attack was first revealed in the opening of Deadpool/Wolverine #1 by Benjamin Percy and Joshua Cassara. In this story, Deadpool and Wolverine appear to be launching an attack on a base. Naturally, this doesn’t go entirely according to plan, as it appears Deadpool decides to reveal his new idea for a combined attack.

Although it’s difficult to say exactly what happened due to the lack of dialogue, it appears that the two argue. This results in Deadpool shooting Wolverine multiple times, before throwing him out of the plane, jumping and letting the plane crash into the enemy base, causing massive destruction and announcing the hero’s arrival.

Wolverine has a lot of combo moves, but none like this

Colossus throws Wolverine at an enemy, in his classic "Fastball Special" move.

One of Wolverine’s most iconic combo moves is his special fastball, which he typically uses alongside Colossus. This includes Colossus, or any suitably strong teammate, picking up Wolverine and throwing him as hard as they can at the current enemy. Although this attack seems simple, it is incredibly effective. Wolverine is an incredibly dangerous combatant, but only when he’s up close. Wolverine has virtually no ranged attacks and is not particularly mobile, as he does not have super speed or enhanced agility. The fastball’s special attack makes up for these weaknesses.

It’s not particularly surprising that Deadpool’s version of the combo attack involves shooting Wolverine multiple times.

Unfortunately for everyone, Deadpool isn’t someone who tends to think things through. While the fastball special makes a lot of sense from a tactical standpoint, it generally doesn’t involve massive explosions. Due to this, It’s not particularly surprising that Deadpool’s version of a combo attack involves shooting Wolverine multiple timesthrowing him out of a plane hundreds of feet in the air and then crashing the shared plane into the target. But that’s exactly why Wolverine and Deadpool make such a perfect team, because their aggressive healing factor allows them to recover afterwards.

Wolverine and Deadpool are a perfect team

Even if your special combo could work

Wolverine is immensely popular and has teamed up with quite of characters. But Wolverine always tends to find his way back to Deadpool, and one of the biggest reasons for that is their healing factors and opposing personalities. Wolverine can be a character of few words and is often deadly serious. Deadpool never stops talking and always jokes about anything. The fact that they both have absurd healing factors means Wolverine and Dead Pool they can do ridiculous things together that no one else can, like a combined attack that involves flying a plane directly into an enemy base, something that is too absurd to appear in their film.

Deadpool/Wolverine #1 will be on sale at Marvel Comics on January 1st!
