How Penguin gets all the gangs to work together
Taking Gotham Back From the Old Guard
Refusing to back down even after the Gigantes and Maronis began attacking the gangs that agreed to work with him, Oz arranges a meeting with all of Gotham City’s minor gangs. This includes classic groups from the original comics, including The Odessa Mob, The Sullivans, The LoBoyz, The Burnley Town Massive and the Triads, who could take Penguin’s drug business abroad. Promising everyone a piece if they can work together, Penguin gets all of these gangs to band together to gain greater control over Gotham than ever before.
The key to making Penguin’s proposal work is identifying Sofia and Sal as common enemies of all the other gangs.. Referring to them as the old guard who couldn’t care less about smaller organizations, Penguin gets to the heart of the long-standing disparity between Gotham’s biggest crime families and the other gangs who only got the scraps. This is why Penguin is successful despite being so untrustworthy. Although he’s a known drug lord who will do anything to get what he wants, he also knows how to present himself as someone with a code worth listening to.
Why Eve sells Oz to Sofia Gigante
They have a complicated relationship
Finding Eve’s drawer and photo in Oz’s old house, Sofia Gigante finally finds Eve herself. To her credit, Eve knew that the former Falcone would eventually be looking for her, and asked one of her girls to send Sofia so they could meet up. As Sofia listens to Eve talk about her relationship with Oz, it initially appears that Sofia is going to kill her, especially considering that Eve was Oz’s alibi the night he killed Sofia’s brother Alberto. However, Sofia decides to let Eva live, who essentially intended to volunteer so that Sofia would not go after the girls she worked with, fearing Sofia’s false reputation as the Executioner.
Additionally, Eve ends up telling Sofia that Oz lives in Crown Point, saying that she deserves her chance on The Penguin.. Although she and Oz have a relationship that seemingly goes beyond the financial and physical, it is still quite complex and hardly genuine love. Likewise, Eve didn’t know what Oz did, having been responsible for Sofia’s 10 years in Arkham.
To that end, Eve chooses to give up Oz not only to take the pressure off herself and her daughters, but also because there’s a part of her that empathizes with Sofia and what happened to her.. However, that doesn’t mean she wants them to know that the information about Oz’s whereabouts came from her. As such, it won’t be good if Oz finds out that Eve has given up on him in the final two episodes of The penguin that are yet to come.
What Sofia plans to do with Francis and Victor
The Penguin’s Weakness Is Finally Revealed
Threatening Gotham Councilman Hady, Penguin demanded at the beginning of the episode that the city stop diverting power from Crown Point to the more affluent parts of the city. As such, the episode ends with the lights and power finally coming back on in Crown Point. Celebrating what Oz did, Francis and Penguin’s right-hand man Victor are celebrating and dancing to the now working record player with the light finally on in the old condominium where they have been hiding out since Penguin killed Salvatore’s family. It would have been a really good moment at the end of The penguin episode 6 if Sofia wasn’t at their door.
“Undoubtedly wanting to make Oz suffer, it stands to reason that Sofia will definitely take Francis hostage…”
As previously established in The penguinSofia believed that Oz’s mother was dead, a lie told long ago by the Penguin to keep Francisco safe. As such, this is why Sofia told Sal at the beginning The penguin episode 6 that the Penguin’s greatest strength was that he had nothing and no one to use against him. However, everything has clearly changed now that Sofia has found Francis and Victor in Crown Point.. Undoubtedly wanting to make Oz suffer, it stands to reason that Sofia will definitely take Francis hostage. However, Victor’s fate seems much less certain at the end of The penguin episode 6.
