What happened in Blue lacquer Season two, episode #3?
Isagi constantly failed to score a goal, quickly losing faith in his soccer skills
Episode #3 picks up right where Episode #2 left off, in the midst of Team A and Team B’s intense, cutthroat match that kicked off the Japan U-20 tryouts. Team B was in the lead, thanks to Tabito and Eita’s chemistry together as players, and all hope seemed lost for Team A to get through. Rin and Shidou, the team’s most talented players, struggled to work together and were both too focused on stealing goals from one another rather than leading the team to success. Isagi decided he would prove himself through Serve as the puzzle piece to connect the two out of sync players.

Desperate to assert himself, Isagi finally almost gained control of the ball after a pass from Hiori, but was too slow to make contact with the ball. Rin recovered the ball and scored, ensuring Isagi’s mistake was not wasted. The blunder caused Isagi to doubt and resent himself, wondering why his physical abilities and endurance had not yet caught up with the soccer strategies he had devised in his mind. He did not give up, determined to score the final goal.

By relying only on instinct, he finally got a chance to score
Yo Hiori, one of Team A’s players who was recently introduced to the anime, Offered Isagi some invaluable advice that completely shifted his mindset and soccer playing style. As Isagi continued to beat himself up for the mistake he made that almost cost his team the goal, Hiori suggested that reframing his thought process could help Isagi finally score. Hiori explained that relying on his instincts could be more beneficial, rather than wasting so much mental energy thinking about the best move and wasting valuable time that could be spent moving quickly and scoring a goal.
