Joe Proctor was a main character in the Starz crime drama series, PowerAnd his death came as a shock to viewers and his actor, Jerry Ferrara, had long thought about his character’s exit from the show. Power is filled with an ensemble cast of characters who are all vying for one form or another of which the title of the show professes. Whether it’s by striving for their glory or riding the coat tails of powerful figures like Ghost (Omari Hardwick) or Tommy (Yosef Sikora), everyone wants a piece of the power pie.

One of the best of the characters in Power is Joe Proctor, the talented and ambitious defense attorney for Ghost who also served as a pseudo-consigliere. Proctor first appeared in season 2, episode 8, “Three Moves Ahead”, and quickly moved into the main cast in season 3. In episode 5, “King’s Gambit”, Proctor is put in an impossible situation, where he is forced to name someone for Angela’s death, pressured to say that it was ghost. refused to sell him, He tells the truth and reveals that Tommy was the murderer.

While Joey Ferrara knew that he probably would not make it to the end of PowerHe was still emotional when he got the news about Proctor’s death (via EW),

“…I never necessarily felt safe, but then you make it to a certain point and you’re like, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll see the end of this thing.’ Thought was, ‘When it comes to me, I’m going to take it like a soldier I’m not going to show that I’m upset.’ And then I was upset in the room. [Laughs] I was like, ‘Man, what now? There can’t be three more episodes?’

Power Was one of Ferrara’s biggest roles since he starred in Entourage Like Winnie Chase’s (Adrian Grenier) friend and driver, Turtle. It is clear that this was a role that meant a lot to him. Even years after the series finale, Ferrara still fondly remembers his time on the show, posting on X About how he wished he had lived just so he could have appeared on screen with Method Man, who appeared in the spinoff series, Power Book II: Ghost Like Davis McLean.

As for his overall feelings of his time period on Power– said Ferrar,

“I just went in with a very open heart and I was so welcomed. I’ve felt respected before but this was the first time I felt almost overwhelmed with respect… Just thank God I stayed true Who I’ve been to, because look where it led me I’m just grateful and relieved that I was able to do it, and I’m still a little nervous about life without it… I think power really has the best fans on TV never saw anything like this.”
