Commander Cody cannot resist his inhibitor chip during Order 66

He carried out the order and served the empire

Unfortunately, for all his bravery, honor and more, not even Cody could resist his inhibitor chip when Order 66 was enacted. As seen in Revenge of the Sith, Cody was the first to comply with the orderOrdering his soldiers to target Obi-Wan on Utopo and shoot him down as soon as Palpatine ordered him to do so. Cody has since become one of the most prominent figures in the tragedy of Order 66, due to the legacy of him being the first to ever carry out the order in a heartbreaking sequence of Jedi deaths.

Obviously, it was the inhibitor chip that caused Cody to act this way, meaning it wasn’t of his own free will. This is easily one of Star Wars Best recons, one that was made in The Clone Wars With a fantastic arc that saw Clone Trooper Fives of the 501st Legion uncover the conspiracy fully before being killed for knowing too much. While some clones are able to fight the chips to various degrees, from Clone Force 99’s total disobedience to Captain Rex getting a few words out to Ahsoka Tano, Cody can’t fight his chip.

Cody eventually betrayed the Empire and went AWOL

He realized what he was doing was wrong

Over time, however, the effects of the inhibitor chips began to fade in all the clones, and they were left to figure out what they had done – Cody included. This account is mostly seen in The bad batchWith Cody working alongside former Clone Force 99 member Crosshair and debating the Empire’s integrity the entire time. With the inhibitor chip weakened, Cody was forced to face all he had done, and his disillusionment with the Empire began to set in quickly..

After a mission on behalf of the Empire that Cody carried out with Crosshair, the commander became completely against the regime he was forced to swear to. Realizing the principles of the Empire were no longer aligned with those of the Republic, Cody is Awol, fleeing the Empire’s forces and their wrong ideologies. Cody did not specify where he was going next, but wherever it was, it was no doubt far, far away from the cruelty of the empire that forced him to comply with an order he would never have given.

Cody’s Star Wars fate has not yet been revealed

Where can he appear next?

Commander Cody leaves the Empire in bad batch

Cody enters The bad batch Is the last audience heard of him and his fate, although it is likely far from the last time the famous clone officer will be seen. There are quite a few ways in which Star Wars Can bring him back if they’re looking to, both in live-action and animation. These narrative opportunities would enrich not only Cody’s own narrative, but also that of the larger Star Wars History.

Star Wars has yet to announce a new animated TV show, and many viewers are optimistic about getting one that centers on the clone rebellion led by Captain Rex, as glimpsed in The bad batch. Cody would more than likely become a part of that, especially after going AWOL from the Empire. Even if he is not part of the rebellion itself, however, it seems likely that he would at least be reunited with his brothers in some way.Especially since Gregor – another member of the 212 – is among Rex’s ranks.
