The studio behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake has just announced its next game in the works, but it’s not another project in the works Quiet Hill Series. Blouber team’s success with Silent Hill 2 Expanded the audience for the horror game developer, previously responsible for Heat as Layers of fear And Observer. Although all of Blober’s games come with their share of detractors, consistently positive reviews and plenty of media attention have cemented the company as a major player in modern horror.
A new trailer on the official Bloober team YouTube channel revealed Cronos: The New DawnA third-person survival horror game with a retro-futuristic spin. The trailer focuses on an elderly woman playing chess against a menacing figure in a bulbous suit, who finally pushes the board aside and reaches out to her with spider-like claws that unfold from his glove.
The Steam Description for the game, that is Set to launch on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025describes it as a “Twisted time travel story“which bounces between the future and 1980s-era Poland. Players step into the shoes of a “Traveler“extract the”Essences” from past figures to take them into the hellish future.
Bloober team isn’t just sticking to Silent Hill remakes
Survival horror of every stripe
Cronos: The New Dawn Seems to follow Bloober Team’s shift to an action-oriented direction That the Silent Hill 2 Remake signed. Although atmosphere is still paramount, the game emphasizes that “Quick decisions“In combat it will be necessary to survive.

at the same time, Cronos: The New Dawn Proves that Bloober Team is still interested in the eclectic release pattern that has always defined the company. The project is a completely new IPEven if the name calls Guillermo del Toro’s horror film Cronos to mind Following news that the Silent Hill 2 Remake sold over a million copies in its first week, the shift in direction may come as a surprise.
Our take: Cronos: The New Dawn being a new IP could be great
Variety is always exciting
Although Cronos: The New Dawn Must have been in development for a while, the success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake could still be good for it and other future Bloober Team games. An influx of funding and fans can help projects be more fully realizedEven if success will ultimately depend on whether balance is accompanied by consistently interesting design. The popularity of Layers of fear Let the team go bigger with its sequel, but while I love ideas like a German Expressionist sequence in Layers of fear 2It still feels like its spinning its wheels in time.

Set in Bloober Team’s home country, Cronos: The New Dawn Could be one of the studio’s most personal projects yet. For all its loyalty to the original, the Silent Hill 2 Remake features some distinctly Polish elements of set decoration, and bringing things home opens up a lot of opportunities. It’s still likely that Bloober Team could return to Quiet Hill In the future, but I do think mixing in some variety right after these Silent Hill 2 Remake is more exciting.
