A new look at Star Trek: Strange New Worlds left New York Comic Con. The Paramount+ show is a prequel to the original series, following the exploits of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise, which includes younger versions of iconic characters Spock (Ethan Peck) and Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding). Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, set to premiere in 2025, will not be the last, as the live-action show has already been renewed for Season 4 as well.
At New York Comic Con, Paramount+ shared a new clip from an upcoming episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3. The three-minute clip begins in the middle of a high-octane space battle, where Pike consults with his team on the best course of action. In addition to jamming the attacking fleet’s communications, they plan to disguise a tracking beacon in a failed torpedo so they can safely rescue their comrades, who are still prisoners of the Gorn.
They then plan a risky maneuver this will take away their shields, putting them at even greater risk if they fail. Watch the full clip below:
At the event it was also announced that Our flag means death star Rhys Darby will appear in the new season as a guest star. Paramount+ also revealed a gallery of first-look images from the scene depicted in the clip, showing Pike, Spock and Rebecca Romijn’s Una Chin-Riley during their tense moment on the Enterprise’s bridge. What this means for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
The program continues where it left off
While this clip doesn’t reveal much about the larger adventure it’s a part of, it does reveal that the show will continue directly from the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 finale. This cliffhanger saw most of the Enterprise landing party kidnapped by the Gornwhich is clearly still a source of great concern for the remaining crew of the ship.
This intense scene being a direct continuation of this storyline makes sense, although it remains to be seen whether the rescue of the landing party will occur in episode 1 of season 3 or whether it will be extended into other episodes. If that’s the case, may reveal that the show is adopting a more serialized narrative instead of the episodic format that has been widely used until now, imitating the narrative structure of The original serieswhich directly precedes the Star Trek timeline.
Our opinion on this Star Trek: Strange New Worlds update
Rhys Darby is a welcome addition to the show
In addition to this intense introduction to the season, the announcement that Rhys Darby is joining the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds the cast is exciting. The actor, who played the main character Stede Bonnet in the HBO series Our flag means death from 2022 to 2023, has extensive experience in the science fiction genre, including voicing Coran in Voltron: Legendary Defender and playing supporting roles in The X-Files and Sweet tooth. With his training, he should be able to bring to life any new role asked of him.
