Brothers 2 Could Replace Adam Driver’s Missed Million Heist Comedy Opportunity 7 Years Ago

Warning: Spoilers for Amazon Brothers below!ONE Brothers the sequel could fulfill the franchise’s failed potential of a cult Adam Driver comedy. Although not officially a remake, Amazon’s Brothers looks a lot like an update Twins. This 1988 hit comedy was essentially sold out, where Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito were billed as identical twin brothers; hilarity ensued. The cast of Brothers is making a similar move, with Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage as mismatched criminal twins trying to score one last goal. Along the way, they are also reunited with their distant and untrustworthy mother, played by Glenn Close.

Brothers It’s drawn lukewarm reviews so far, but it can’t be denied that Dinklage and Brolin share great chemistry. Even when the material is unstable, the two protagonists invest the audience in the relationship between the brothers, and the end of Brothers leaves them with a note of hope. Both appear to have left their criminal pasts behind by the time the credits roll – although it also doesn’t take long for Dinklage’s Jady or Brolin’s Moke to get back into business.

Brothers is a heist franchise waiting to happen

Time will tell how Brothers plays for Amazon, but with such a great cast – which includes Brendan Fraser as the villain – the chances of turning some heads are high. While it doesn’t set up a sequel, it wouldn’t take much work to create one and it would be nice to have a new entry with Brolin and Dinklage every few years. Brothers can also fill the robbery franchise gap that Logan Luck couldn’t in 2017.

Logan Luck followed two brothers who teamed up to stage a heist during a NASCAR race, with an impressive ensemble that included Adam Driver, Channing Tatum, and Daniel Craig. The film was directed by Steven Soderbergh, director of Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteenwho obviously knows his way around a heist thriller. Logan Luck also received an impressive 92% in Rotten tomatoesbut only earned a disappointing $48 million worldwide (through Mojo Box Office).

Despite everything, the film seems to gain more fans with each passing year. If it had been a bigger hit, there would have been a universe where Soderbergh could have found his Ocean franchise replacement and met with his Logan Luck released every few years for a new entry.

Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage’s Brothers 2 Could Be New Family-Centered Ocean’s 11 Replacement

A Brothers sequel could also fix the flaws of the original

Brothers is largely held together by its cast, who sustain the film whenever a joke falls flat or a new story invention arrives. If the comedy is a success, a sequel could learn from the original’s mistakes and have a more successful mix of emotion and bad jokes. An elaborate Oceanheist inspired would be a fun addition to Brothers 2 too – and this is an angle that director Max Barbakow has already suggested would need a follow-up. There’s also room for a sequel to add more crew members.

Reuniting the ex Game of Thrones co-stars (and real-life best friends) Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey for a sequel could be fun, for example, especially if the latter plays her character’s long-lost sister. Although there is a Ocean prequel and sequel in development, Brothers could become the other nasty side of this franchise. All that’s needed is the right hook.

What could the story of Brothers 2 be after the 2024 film ends?

There are many directions a Brothers sequel could go

Brothers ends with Jady and Moke putting the past behind them, with the latter having a baby girl with his wife Abby (Taylour Paige). Their mother, Cath, is also going to prison, but managed to smuggle some valuable emeralds to Jady during a visit. It looks like the brothers are ready to leave the world of crime behind – but a sequel could leave them in desperate need of money and having to raise another.”one last job“type of work.

Considering Jady and Moke haven’t seen their mother Cath in over 30 years, there’s even a chance she’s started another family and they have half-siblings who show up to cause trouble…

Cath could break out of prison and involve them in another of her plots, or perhaps someone from their past will come seeking revenge. Considering Jady and Moke haven’t seen Cath in over 30 years, there’s even a chance she’s started another family and they have half-siblings who show up to cause trouble. It would be nice to see Abby do more next time too, as Paige is woefully underused in Brothers.

A sequel could even pull a Oceanstyle twist and force the brothers to work alongside former enemy Farful (Fraser). Again, coming up with a premise for a sequel wouldn’t be difficult, though conceiving one that brings the entire cast together is another matter. Even though Brothers 2 doesn’t happen, I hope Dinklage and Brolin still find something else to work onbecause their chemistry is too good to waste.
