The third installment in Sony’s franchise based on Spider-Man’s former nemesis turned lethal protector is expected to end the character’s big-screen journey. In Venom: The Last DanceEddie and Venom return from their brief multiversal adventure in Spider-Man: No Way Home only to be hunted by a mysterious human military organization and ancient beings from Venom’s home world.
As New York Comic-Con continues, Screen speech was present to see Sony reveal new images from the soon-to-be-released film Venom: The Last Dance ahead of its release on October 25th. In the newly revealed images, attendees got their first full look at the Venomized horse sequence where a cautious Eddie tries to carefully ease the creature, only for an excitable and enthusiastic Venom to take over in a sequence set to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”, fully embracing the cowboy moment and telling Eddie: “Ride me, Cowboy!“. The trip is interrupted, however, when the duo is cornered by military forces armed with electric weapons and led by Rick Strickland (Chiwetel Ejiofor).
While Eddie is caught in a net in a river, Venom quickly escapes, jumping between bonding with a fish and a frog to get back to Eddie. As the pair reconnect and put some distance between themselves and the ambush, not only are they thrown into another fight with more soldiers, but they also encounter a deadly Xenophage alien, giving viewers a glimpse into his symbiote-hunting vision.
Although Eddie and Venom escaped in the violent fight between the soldiers and the Xenophage, Rick is left reeling from the losses of his strength, asking Juno Temple’s mysterious scientist if they were at least able to recover samples of their new otherworldly contender.
