Nathan reminds Hughie Campbell of the boys

With many parallels between Nathan and Quaid The boys character, Hughie, Novocaine seems like the perfect movie for him to star in. Being covered in blood, in a situation that goes beyond his head, and dealing with cruel individuals is what happens to Hughie in almost every episode of The boys. Even Nathan's motivation, to save his girlfriend, has similarities to Hughie's initial motivation to get justice for his girlfriend who was murdered by a super. In the image above, he could be seeing his kidnapped girlfriend on the laptop, further contributing to his panicked expression.

A meaningful way that Novocaine is distinct from The boys is that Nathan becomes the hero and undisputed star of the story. The boys it's an ensemble series and Hughie isn't always at the forefront of it. In Novocaine, Nathan will have to trust himself and his “superpower” of not feeling pain and will not be able to count on a team of allies like Hughie did on the Prime Video show. Nathan will use weapons as seen in the image, but will also engage in hand-to-hand combat, making him more of an action hero than Hughie.
