Warning: SPOILERS for The Infinite Clock #1It's been a long time Marvel Comics first released the power of the Infinity Stones about the world. No longer tied to the Infinity Gauntlet or Thanos' mad quest for power, the stones are now tied to seven hosts who have sworn to keep their cosmic artifacts out of the hands of evil. However, a new cosmic power showed the team a different method of controlling their infinite power.
The Infinity Clock #1 by Derek Landry and Ruairí Coleman is the debut of the newest iteration of Infinity Watch. Personally chosen by the stones themselves, each member of this cosmic force still struggles with what it means to have become gods and how to best use their powers together.
As Infinity Watch discusses the volatile nature of its powers and new responsibilities that come with them, a sudden attack brings the team together. They soon come face to face with another group of interdimensional stone wielders, one of whom possesses a powerful new weapon.
New Marvel series replaces the Infinity Gauntlet with an “Infinity Blade”
The Infinity Clock #1 by Derek Landy, Ruairí Coleman, Scott Hanna, Brain Reber, Erick Arciniega and Cory Petit
When Infinity Watch receives their first red alert signal, they are faced with a horrifying array of interdimensional alien monsters known as Apeiron. The Apeiron are also stone bearers who travel between dimensions to hunt and consume the powers of the Infinity Stones. Unlike Infinity Watch, the Apeiron have mastered their cosmic abilities and learned to build a new type of artifact that rivals the Infinity Gauntlet. One such artifact takes the form of a human-sized mechanized sword.
This currently unnamed “Infinity Blade” is an imposing weapon that possesses all the power of a complete Infinity Gauntlet. By combining their infinite powers, Apeiron can create weapons that are imbued with the powers of each of the stones. The Infinity Watch was designed so that the stones always remain separate, only to be used together in times of great emergency. However, with the revelation of weapons like the Infinity Blade, the team's purpose may be in vain. The Infinity Gauntlet was considered an artifact unlike any other; now it's just a glove compared to this weapon.
The Infinity Blade harnesses the powers of the Infinity Stones of Earth-616 and beyond
One Infinity Gauntlet was already a problem, now there could be many
So far, it's unclear whether the Infinity Blade can harness the stones' independent powers like the Infinity Gauntlet would be able to. That being said, this sword should not be judged by the rules of Earth-616. Typically, Infinity Stones only retain their powers within the dimensions of their home. However, the Blade's wielder, Avery Zavala, explains that stone bearers keep their powers outside of their home dimension. It's also important to note that not every universe has the same stones, which means the Infinity Blade can be enchanted with completely unknown divine powers.
The presence of multiple artifacts containing the combined powers of the Infinity Stones is sure to bring new levels of destruction to Marvel Comics. multiverse.
What is known is that it is powerful. Without any of the Earth-616 stone bearers noticing, Zavala attacks and kills Colleen Wing, simultaneously replacing her with an illusion. From the way Zavala describes his weapon, it's not the only one there is. A single Infinity Gauntlet is enough to make mortals nearly omniscient and omnipotent, placing them above Abstract Entities in power. However, the presence of multiple artifacts containing the combined powers of the Infinity Stones is sure to cause new levels of destruction across the world. Marvel Comics multiverse.
