2024 is coming to an end and with it comes the end of another great year for anime. In addition to ongoing titles such as One piece, Frieren: beyond the journey's endand Bleach: Thousand Year Blood Warthere were lots of great new titles to watch, like Dandadan, Delicious in the dungeonand Dededede Dededede Destruction of the Dead DemonSo fans had a lot to choose from when it came to finding anime to watch.
2024 was a great year for anime, and 2025 is already looking to be just as good, if not better. Among the many anime that will return with new content and the new shows that have been generating excitement since they were first announced, 2025 will be a big year for anime, with how many high-quality and exciting anime are set to premiere from January 2025 onwards. Some new and old anime stand out in particular, and each of them is sure to become one of next year's biggest hits.

Zenshu
MAPPA anime series; Directed by Mitsue Yamazaki
MAPPA Zenshu stars Natsuko Hirose, a brilliant but antisocial animator who is under so much pressure to succeed that she ends up working herself to death. After dying, however, Natsuko finds herself in the world of A story of perishingthe anime that inspired her to become an animator, and although the story is supposed to end in tragedy, she decides to try to give it a happy ending.
Isekai anime has long been controversial among fans and critics alike, but between the metanarrative about the struggles of being in a creative field and the gorgeous visuals of a MAPPA production, Zenshu is set to be much better than average isekai anime thanks to its stellar visuals and clever writing. MAPPA tends to do great work more often and hopefully Zenshu will be no different.

City The Animation
Anime series from Kyoto Animation; Based on the manga by Keiichi Arawi
Kyoto animation City to Animation stars Midori Nagumo, a college student whose desire to have as much fun as possible goes against her perpetual poverty and her refusal to get a job. The series follows Midori's reckless adventures through her town which, although an ordinary town, is inhabited by people who are anything but, something Midori doesn't mind at all.
Any Kyoto Animation project is exciting, but not only City to Animation his first project in six years will not be a sequel, but City to Animation serves as spiritual successor to Nichijouone of Kyoto's best animation projects of all time, thanks to also being created by Keiichi Arawi. Anyone who loved Nichijou you will definitely love it City to Animationand as such, there is a lot to look forward to.

Fire Force
David Production anime series; Based on the manga by Atsushi Ohkubo
David Production Fire Force takes place 250 years after the Great Cataclysm, an apocalyptic event that burned nearly the entire world to ashes and saw the birth of the Infernals, powerful demons born from spontaneous combustion. To combat the Infernals, the pyrokinetics of the Tokyo Empire fight as part of the Fire Force, and their latest recruit is Shinra Kusakabe, a boy who shoots fire from his feet and slowly reveals himself to be connected to every occult working in the world. .
Fire Force is finally returning with its final season, the first half premiering in April 2025, and just from the little promotional material available, Fire Force Season 3 will have the same great animation and writing that made the first two seasons a huge success. The third season will take a while to finish, but I hope it's worth the long wait.

Dias Sakamoto
TMS Entertainment anime series; Based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki
TMS Entertainment Dias Sakamoto stars Taro Sakamoto, a man who was once the world's greatest assassin until he abruptly retired, started a family, and gained a lot of weight. Sakamoto would rather spend his days with his wife and son running the family convenience store, but circumstances beyond his control force him back into action, particularly those behind his mysterious retirement in the first place.
THE Dias Sakamoto manga has been a hit for years thanks to its great comedy and intense action scenes reminiscent of John Wickand based on promotional material, the Dias Sakamoto anime will do a great job translating the writing and action of the manga into animation. Dias Sakamoto'The anime has been highly anticipated for years, and thankfully, it doesn't look like it will disappoint in the slightest.

Studio Trigger anime series; Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi
Panties and stockings with garter belt was a cult classic anime from Studio Gainax, and thanks to an infamously bizarre “Gainax ending,” that is, an ending that is nearly impossible to understand, many people spent more than a decade wanting some kind of sequel. That, of course, is finally on the horizon, as in 2023, Studio Trigger announced that they had acquired the rights and were developing the long-awaited sequel, New panties and stockings with garter belt.
In all probability, New panties and stockings with garter belt will begin with the surprising ending of Stocking killing Panty and splitting her into 666 pieces around the worldbut with how bizarre the series is, it wouldn't be surprising if they just ignored the original ending. Whatever the case, with all the key team members returning for the sequel, it will be just as good as the original, if not greater.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX
Anime series by Sunrise & Studio Khara; Directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest main series in the long-running Gundam franchise, the series is a collaboration between Sunrise and Studio Khara of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame. While living her peaceful life on a space colony, Machu finds herself drawn into the world of illegal Mobile Suit fights called Clan Battles, and soon, she becomes the pilot of the Gundam GQuuuuuuX as she and her friends slowly become involved in events that could change your whole world.
A new Gundam anime is always exciting, but with Studio Khara working GQuuuuuXproduction, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX has the potential to be the biggest Gundam anime in years with the incredible amount of talent behind its production. There's no official release date beyond a theatrical preview premiering in January, but when the series debuts in full, it will be great for old and new alike. Gundam fans, too.

From Shinichiro Watanabe, creator of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, comes Lazarus, a new animated action series for Adult Swim. Animated by Studio Mappa, the series will feature action sequences choreographed by John Wick director Chad Stahleski.

Lazarus is Watanabe's biggest project in years, and any fan of his work would be remiss to dismiss it.

In Bones Gachiakutayoung orphan Rudo is expelled from the floating paradise of the Sphere after being accused of murdering his father, Regto, and ends up in the trash-infested desert known as the Pit. There, Rudo discovers that he is a Giver, someone who can imbue a precious object with supernatural abilities, and from then on, Rudo vows to use his powers to return to the Sphere and take revenge on everyone who wronged him.
Not much was shown about Bones Gachiakuta anime plus a teaser trailer and some important art, but Gachiakuta has slowly become a household name thanks to its great action complemented by creative and gorgeous artworkwith many calling him the spiritual successor of Soul Eater. It's one of the best manga to read right now, and with Bones at the helm of the anime, the anime is sure to be great.

Toei animations One piece takes place in a world in the midst of the Great Age of Piracy. For over 20 years, pirates have searched the world for One Piece to earn the title of Pirate King; Among them is the young Monkey D. Luffy, and with the power of the Gum-Gum Fruit, he will assemble his own crew and show that he is not to be underestimated.
One pieceThe anime recently went on hiatus for the first time since it premiered, and new episodes won't return until April 2025. That's pretty exciting in and of itself, but it's especially exciting because One pieceThe 2025 return is expected to cover the most iconic moments from the Egghead arc, such as Luffy and Kizaru's fight and Kuma's backstory.and with how good anime has become in recent years, 2025 could be the best year for One pieceyet.

Dandadan
Science Saru anime series; Based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu
Saru Science Dandadan stars Momo Ayase and Okarun, two teenagers obsessed with aliens and the supernatural who end up permanently changed by an encounter with both, with both teenagers gaining supernatural powers and Okarun losing his genitals. Momo and Okarun work together and with others to recover them while fighting any supernatural threat they encounter, all while a romance begins to develop between the two.
Dandadan was one of the biggest anime of 2024 thanks to its clever writing and incredible art and animation, courtesy of Science Saruand with Dandadan Season 2 is officially in production, fans won't have to wait long to see more of it. There's no telling what's in store Dandadan Season 2, but with how great Season 1 was, it's hard to see Dandadan like anything other than best anime to watch in 2025.
