Marvel Just Gave Galactus' Daughter the Best Return of Any Villain (or Hero) in Years

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Infinity Comics: Marvel Rivals #1! Galacta, daughter of Galactusis a fairly obscure character who has only made a few appearances in Marvel Comics – so few, in fact, that her canon status has been heavily questioned. But now, Galacta is getting the love he deserves in the form of a grand return, the likes of which almost no hero or villain has experienced in a long time.

In Infinity Comics: Marvel's Rivals #1 by Paul Allor and Luca Claretti, readers are reintroduced to Galacta on the very first page, although she immediately makes it clear that this story is not about her. Galacta breaks the fourth wall, directly telling readers that what they are about to witness is a multiversal battle between variants of their favorite Marvel Comics characters that will decide the fate of multiple universes.

After introducing readers to the main characters in this comic, as well as the overall story arc that fans are about to dive into, Galacta says he will be following the events of Marvel Rivals play alongside them. In other words, Galacta is basically Marvel's hostess for this new series, and its omnipresent watchful eye will be focused on what happens next. Galacta is no longer just a canon side character, but a guide through Marvel's latest multiverse-spanning adventure – which is a huge return no one saw coming.

Galacta made its first appearance in Spectacular Marvel Wizard Size #2, but it was less a standalone story and more a contest in the form of an anthology book, where Marvel editors tested new characters to see which one was the most popular among them – and Galacta won. As a result, Galacta got his own comic called Galacta: Daughter of Galactus by Adam Warren and Hector Sevilla Lujan, where fans actually met Galactus' daughter.

It is revealed that Galacta is a product of Galactus' ability to reproduce asexually, though the nature of her existence is far from the most interesting thing about her. Unlike her father, Galacta is a pacifist 'vegetarian' who refuses to consume entire planets and civilizations. Instead, Galacta eat microscopic alien infections found on Earth. Galacta not only saves lives by doing this, but also ensures that there is no negative impact on Earth by only consuming harmful entities that do not belong there.

Galacta: Daughter of Galactus ends with Galacta discovering that she is 'pregnant' in the same way that Galactus was 'pregnant' with her, leaving readers on a cliffhanger. But then, nothing, and Galacta fell into Marvel obscurity. At least, until now. With its rebirth in Marvel Rivals comics, Galacta has made her triumphant return to Marvel Comics – and she doesn't stop there.
