. The DCU is finally here, with the new franchise's debut show coming from James Gunn Creature Commands. Although the series follows a group of lesser-known heroes, it has crossovers with other DCU heroes and villains, helping to set the stage for what could come next in the DC Universe.

However, the series doesn't play it safe, as it introduces intense plots with far-reaching consequences, and even alters the motives and powers of characters that have existed for decades. One of these characters is Wonder Woman's oldest rival supervillainCirce, whose history in the comics dates back to 1949, but Creature Commands Taking on the character in episode 4 gave her a heroic storyline. And because of the DCU's shared universe, this could change a lot of other things in the future.

Creature Commandos Episode 4 Circe Reveal Makes Her Look Much More Heroic

Circe is really trying to save the world

In Creature Commands episode 4, Circe has been captured by Task Force M. They bring her back to Amanda Waller, who seeks to question her about her motives for attacking the small nation of Pokolistan, and Circe's response reframes everything that has happened on the show up until this point. Circe claims that she attacked Princess Ilana because she had visions of a future where the Justice League dies in a massacre that will be led by Princess Ilana.

Although Waller was initially hesitant to take Circe at her word, she was able to experience the vision for herself and then call an expert to confirm that Circe's vision was likely real and could spell certain disaster for the rest of the world. . However, Circe's efforts to rush in and confront this girl who will one day have the power to face the greatest team of superheroes in the world, making her look like a true hero. Yes, she could have tried to get help, but this supposed villain chose to put herself in harm's way in an effort to save the world.

Why the DC universe making Circe a hero would make sense for the franchise

The DCU has a lot to prove from the start

Superhero movies and shows can be amazing. And obviously a lot of people like them because they consistently gross hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. However, some superhero stories can quickly become boring, especially if the The lines are drawn clearly between good and evil. For storytellers like James Gunn, it seems to be an important and prominent theme in their projects to highlight that sometimes things are gray, rather than simply black and white. And taking a long-time hero and giving them a hero arc could certainly help cement that idea as part of the foundation of the DCU.

On the other hand, even if this is a clever trick on Circe's part, and the character is actually evil, making it seem like they were trying to be a hero could make the eventual reveal much more engaging. Either way, it's an interesting idea to take a villain with a consistent history of being evil and do something a little different. This breaks the mold and, after the events of the DCEU, the new DCU certainly needs shaking up.

Creature Commandos has already created a fascinating storyline for the DC Universe to follow

The DCU still has a lot to prove

Furthermore, the vision itself has important implications for the future of the DCU. Whether this means Circe remains a semi-heroic figure, or whether it means she reverts to her supervillain ways, the character was introduced well before her old rival, Wonder Woman. However, Circe's vision implies that there may be big trouble ahead for the heroes of the Justice League and Peacemaker, which could have a much larger ripple effect on the DCU.

Depending on how Creature Commands resolves the story, the immediate threat of Princess Ilana could be addressed, but other elements of the vision, such as the presence of Gorilla Grodd, suggest that this character and others could band together and amass forces powerful enough to rival superheroes. It all comes down to what happens in the Creature Commands final, but the rest of the DCU is being shaped by this project, and with so many major developments happening since the beginning, big things could be coming for the heroes soon in the DCU.
