I Finally Figured Out Why There Aren't Any More Below Deck Franchise Reunions (And I Hope We Can Bring Them Back)

Below Deck has been a long-time franchise that has held meetings in the past, which makes it strange that they haven't incorporated them into their schedules, but I found out why things changed and I hope they get fixed. In operation since 2014, Below Deck and its subsequent spinoffs have been an interesting mix of documentary-style content and reality TV drama throughout its run. While the drama doesn't always reflect what's actually going on aboard the superyacht, the show hasn't been subject to much producer interference over the years. Instead of, Below Deck was called up for somewhat strange reasons.

Throughout its execution, the Below Deck shows haven't always had reunions to wrap up each season, rehashing all the drama and seeing what's happening with the cast after the show ends filming. Despite knowing that viewers are interested in what happens after the fact, Below Deck the programs do not return to the table with meetings throughout each season of all series in the franchise. Although there were meetings to Below Deck MediterraneanSailing yacht below deck, and Below Deck season in the past, they are not consistent, leaving me wondering why this happens and how it can be fixed.

Below Deck Franchise Shows Used to Feature Seasonal Reunions

Shows typically had a reunion episode at the beginning

Although Below Deck and its spin-offs are not all the same, the shows' early seasons often had reunion episodes at the end of each season. Although the reunions were filmed well after the season had aired, the episodes were a useful way to wrap up the seasons. Below Deck meetings were normally organized by See what happens live host and general Bravo personality Andy Cohen, who would bring the crew and captain to his studio to talk to them about the season. Bringing up the drama that happened, meetings were used to ensure the season ended well.

Although they happen from time to time, Below Deck franchise shows now typically do not have reunion episodes at the end of each season. Although some seasons in recent years have featured a reunion, they have been sparse and often unable to feature the entire cast or the entire cast in person. While Bravo wasn't able to get full casts together, when they did get together, the shows did their best to get the entire cast together to discuss what happened in each season. Even with meetings, some seasons did not reach satisfactory conclusions.

Despite viewers asking for more Below Deck meetings to rework the drama and understand what was happening in some circumstances, the shows have not been successful. Without much explanation, Below Deck viewers had to guess what happened after the show, how the relationships are going, and whether or not the dust has settled. Without the reunion episodes, Below Deck viewers are left in the dark, which tends to be more difficult than explaining what's going on. While some believe meetings were cut for budgetary reasons, I think it's a little less straightforward.

Below Deck Meetings Are Too Difficult for Bravo to Schedule with Work Yachts

Yachts are generally working

Although Below Deck reunions have been something viewers have been missing, there is a reason behind their absence that makes why they weren't produced more understandable. THE Below Deck The franchise works with yachtsmen who typically not only actively work on the show's superyachts, but also on other vessels with off-screen crews. THE Below Deck casts often embark on different charters throughout the year to ensure they can survive, which means its general availability is incredibly limited. Although they prioritize the show when they are on it and during press days, it is not their only priority.

Below Deck meetings seem to be very difficult to produce with working yachts, as they cannot find a time when all the yachts that have worked aboard the superyacht during the season are ready and available to talk. With reunion specials being scarce in the first place, Bravo likely chose not to pursue the issue of reunion episodes when they couldn't bring the entire cast together in an easy, manageable way that didn't disrupt their lives. In addition to being more expensive, the reunion episodes were probably difficult to put together, which I think made them stale.

The Below Deck Aftershow Is Not an Adequate Substitute

The most recent after-show doesn't provide as much information

Although Below Deck doesn't have consistent meetings, they tried replacing them with a weekly aftershow that Bravo shares on his YouTube channel to detail the drama. While some Below Deck shows how Sailing yacht below deck, still have reunions and don't use the post-show format, franchise shows that do so typically end up worse off. However yachts sometimes give more information during later shows than at meetingsthe videos are long and sometimes harder to watch than a reunion episode. Below Deck it would be better to return to your original default.
