Yellow: 6666 is the upcoming spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's hit Western drama yellow stone on Paramount+. As the main series comes to an end in 2024, series creator Taylor Sheridan is fleshing out his contemporary Western universe through several shows. While 1923 and 1883the first yellow stone prequels, reveals the very roots of the Dutton cattle empire in Montana, Yellow Stone: 6666 will reveal more about the well-known 6666 or Four Sixes Ranch in Texas.
Yellowstone ranch hand Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) has been sent by John Dutton to the Four Sixes ranch to learn some essential cowboy skills. As Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) explains, Four Sixes is practically “where the cowboy was invented.” Jimmy returns to the Dutton ranch in yellow stone Season 4, Episode 10, “Grass in the Streets and Weeds on the Roofs” as a new man. Yellow Stone: 6666 will certainly reveal a lot more about what goes on at the notorious but highly respected Texas ranch, and it will take the franchise out of Montana for the first time.
Yellowstone latest: 6666 news
An uncertain update on the spinoff's development
After months and months of almost no news about the spinoff, the latest news comes in the form of an uncertain update about Yellow Stone: 6666. The news came directly from executive producer Christina Voros, who oversaw the main series. Unfortunately, despite its important position within the great yellow stone universe, Voros has little to offer in terms of 6666. “I honestly don't know how Taylor chooses to tell which stories he chooses to tell when” said Voros, who almost confirms that work is not actively happening in 6666 or previously announced 1944.
it may be that 6666 was left aside in favor of a more direct continuation of the yellow stone.
With the spinoff centered on Beth and Rip already confirmed, it could be that 6666 was left aside in favor of a more direct continuation of the yellow stone. However, Voros' comments leave the door open for further expansion in the future, and it's clear that no one other than Sheridan himself really knows what's going on in the yellow stone universe.
Read Voros' comments here:
I honestly don't know how Taylor chooses to tell which stories he chooses to tell and when. I think he closed a lot of doors for Yellowstone this season. Obviously there are characters we won't see again because they were dispatched. But I think he left some doors open, and there are some doors that I can't tell if they're locked or not. But we'll know when we get past them.

The next spin-off, Yellow Stone: 6666, was confirmed and the show was announced in February 2021 (through Weekly entertainment). When the show was first announced, nothing was known about the cast, crew, or even many story details, and it remained that way for years to come. There has been little movement since 2021, and the current situation of 6666 is in the air. Several other projects by Taylor Sheridan (Landman, King of Tulsaetc) had precedent, and it is clear that 6666 may not be a high priority as the celebrated TV producer moves forward.
Producer Christina Voros practically confirmed that 6666 it was on hold in December 2024, when it mentioned that it knew nothing about its development. While this doesn't mean the project is off the table forever, the announcement of Beth and Rip's direct spin-off suggests that 6666 could be canned. However, Taylor Sheridan has been pretty tight-lipped about her yellow stone plans to make everything possible.
Yellowstone: 6666 Story Details
Many details remain unclear
Specific plot details have not yet been released. about the Yellow Stone: 6666 spin off. However, Paramount+ released some details in a February 2021 press release, writing:
“Founded when the Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in Western history than 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature coalesce into a place where the most dangerous thing someone does is the next thing.”
If the new yellow stone spinoff is set in the 1800s, could potentially feature some of the characters from 1883many of whom were military veterans and cowboys who might have been involved with the Four Sixes Ranch. If Yellow Stone: 6666 Whether set in the present or the past, it should continue Sheridan's unique vision of the American West and expand the franchise.
The Story of the Real Four Sixes Ranch
The ranch started over 100 years ago
Four Sixes Ranch was founded in 1900and was founded by Texan rancher Samuel Burk Burnett, who supposedly won the ranch in a card game using a hand of four sixes. In fact, the name comes from the first 100 head of cattle that Samuel Burk Burnett purchased in 1870, all with the “6666” brand. After the dust settled from the Civil War, opportunities abounded for those with the means to take advantage of them, and Samuel Burk Burnett took advantage of these opportunities to develop a ranch that built a reputation for working horses, racehorses, and Angus cattle superiors.
Burnett's great-great-granddaughter, Anne Burnett Marion, died in February 2020, causing Four Sixes Ranch to be listed on the market for $347.7 million. In May 2021, yellow stone breeder Taylor Sheridan purchased the ranch, likely in preparation for Yellow Stone: 6666. Whether in the past, present or future, Yellow Stone: 6666 Could be even better than the original yellow stone or any of its other spinoffs.
