Peaky Blinders set photo reveals Barry Keoghan and Cillian Murphy as Netflix confirms production shutdown

A new Peaky Blinders the film set photo has been revealed as Netflix confirms the closure of production. Peaky Blinders was an incredibly successful show for Netflix during its tenure on the platform, which ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022. The gangster family drama won a BAFTA in 2018 for Best Drama Series and has received numerous other awards. Following the success of the TV series, development is well underway on a Peaky Blinders film. The film will see Cillian Murphy reprise his role as Tom Shelby with a new cast that includes Barry Keoghan and Rebecca Ferguson.

Now, Netflix revealed a new photo from the set of Peaky Blinders film. The scene shows Murphy's Tom returning to the film, alongside newcomer Keoghan. The two smile at each other while dressed in period-appropriate clothing. In addition to the new photo, Netflix confirmed that production has been completed for the Peaky Blinders film. Check out the post below:

What this means for Peaky Blinders

The title of the film is not confirmed

Netflix's statement confirms reports from earlier this week about the Peaky Blinders closure of film production. Steven Knight, who created the TV show and serves as the film's writer, previously said that production on the film wrapped on December 13. The film's hair and makeup team also thanked the cast and crew for their work in a thank you post that also implied filming was completed. Netflix's post confirms these statements from the crew members, making the Peaky Blinders official closing ceremony for filming the film.

Interestingly, Netflix's update does not refer to the film by any specific title, but rather calls it “The Peaky Blinders movie.” In the appreciative post, one of the film's hair and makeup team members referred to the film as The Immortal Man. They even included what appeared to be an early poster in this post, which also included The Immortal Man name. Netflix's omission of this moniker means that this is not an officially sanctioned title or that Netflix is waiting to make the official announcement that The Immortal Man is the name of Peaky Blinders film.

Our take on the Peaky Blinders update

The plot is still largely unknown

It's great to see Keoghan and Murphy together on the set of Peaky Blinders film. The two have already acted together in Christopher Nolan's film Dunkirkso this Netflix movie will be a good way for them to reunite. The photo looks more like a candid shot than a photo from the show, especially given the bright, naturalistic lighting, so it doesn't do much to reveal the Peaky Blinders film plot. As the film progresses through post-production, it will be interesting to see what information emerges about the connection between the actors' characters.
