One of the most captivating elements of My Hero Academy The anime series shows the students of class 1-A showing off their costumes. While most of the special costumes the heroes wear have been praised for their specialized designs, some have caused controversy among fans. This debate is no clearer than with Momo Yaoyorozu's costume, as many fans claim, is not age-appropriate. It's easy to forget that the children of Class 1-A are not adults, and for years, fans around the world have raised concerns about Momo's revealing outfit.
To this day, Momo's original costume sparks debate, but the anime accidentally addressed the controversy without most fans realizing. It happens My Hero AcademyThe Arabic dub of Yaoyorozu chose to address the issue, as this version of the anime gives Yaoyorozu an entirely new outfit. Instead of her open costume, the heroine was depicted in a modest outfit that covers her skin. As you can see below, the costume update is quite simple as it maintains the style of Momo's original look. But of course there are fans who are offended by the censorship of the anime here.
The Arabic dub of My Hero Academia completely changes Momo's costume
The hero is not as exposed in the dub as in the original anime
Momo is best known for being one of the smartest characters in My Hero Academya trait that can be attributed to his Quirk requirements. His special ability, called Creation, gives him the ability to transform the lipids in his body into any non-organic matter. To use her powers successfully, Momo must study chemical compositions as well as maintain a strict diet. However, these are not the most noticeable disadvantages of his Quirk. The biggest issue is that Momo must have access to her skin to use her quirk, and this is how her original costume was born..
Even though Momo was only 15 years old when she debuted, her costume covered very little skin, which alarmed many fans when the anime began. While some fans have said that her costume is necessary for her Quirk to work, others have argued that Momo could have been given a more age-appropriate outfit. At Spacetoon, the network responsible for dubbing My Hero Academy for Arabic, the team updated Momo's costume.
Instead of a leotard, Yaoyorozu's costume is transformed into a covered jumpsuit that uses light red fabric to fill in the gaps of the original costume. The side of the chest, which was previously uncovered, is now covered with a white lining. Overall, the suit looks practical and stylish while still being functional. In the same way that Mirio's costume is tailored to his body and his quirk, Momo's works the same way in the Arabic dub. The updated look addresses the issues fans had with Momo's original costume, but it should be noted that the the change was made because of censorship needs.
While many fans like Momo's new costume, it comes from a complicated place.
In the end, My Hero Academy there are other revealing costumes, and the Arabic dubbing makes them more modest, even though they are adults. Characters like Midnight and Mt. Lady are old enough to wear whatever they want, and yet the Arabic voice acting softens their suits. Momo's change may make more sense given her age, but the decision to change her costume depends on cultural differences. Anime in the Middle East is constantly censored to remove any sexualized material, given the region's religious and cultural values. So while many fans like Momo's new costume, it comes from a complicated place.
A large group of fans really love this change
Momo's original costume has always been a hot topic of discussion
For many years, Momo's original outfit has been a point of contention among fans, as netizens deemed it inappropriate. Anime is anime, but having a teenager wear such a revealing costume is an odd choice. You can hardly blame fans for supporting Momo's updated Arabic-dubbed costume, and that in itself is awesome. It's well known that anime fans aren't the biggest fans of censorship, so you don't see netizens supporting changes like this very often, if ever.
Of course, Momo's costume in the Arabic dub of My Hero Academy will never be seen outside this region. It's a look created to appease Middle Eastern cultural values, but still, the design proves that Momo could have rocked a different outfit in the anime. And to be honest, this review makes us wonder what other changes the story could have been subjected to.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child he always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia revolves around Deku and a class of heroes in training at UA. This school turns young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off against dastardly supervillains.
