#SaveLowerDecks! #SaveLowerDecks! #SaveLowerDecks!
It is logical to expect that Star Trek: Lower Decks could be picked up by another streaming service in the same way Netflix saved Star Trek: Prodigy. It would make sense for Netflix, in particular, to adopt Star Trek: Lower Decks to allow them to produce more episodes. This would allow Netflix to dominate the modern product market Star Trek animated series. However, just as Netflix did not renew Star Trek: Prodigy for season 3, there is no known movement towards Star Trek: Lower Decks hopping over to Netflix.

A #SaveLowerDecks campaign began when it became known Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 was the final season for Paramount+, but the fan movement never caught fire along the way Prodigyhe did. The end of Star Trek: Lower Decks (and possibly Star Trek: Prodigy too) is doubly disappointing, since both animated series delivered some of the best Star Trek modern era episodesand made it possible for several legacy characters from Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterpriseand Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to return.
Will Star Trek: Lower Decks characters appear again?
How the USS Cerritos crew can return
Even though Star Trek: Lower Decks does not return as a series, there is potential for some of the beloved USS Cerritos crew to reappear in the future Star Trek projects – and possibly in live action. Star Trek: Lower Decks' Tawny Newsome is developing the first live-action Star Trek comedy set in the early 25th century. If Tawny's show gets the green light, it seems like a tailor-made vehicle for her to bring her Lower decks castmates and their characters.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is also filming two consecutive seasons in Toronto, and this series could also bring back live action Star Trek legacy characters like The Doctor (Robert Picardo). Starfleet Academy takes place in the 32nd century, after the end of the Star Trek: Discoverybut holograms, flashbacks or other science fiction means could bring back any Star Trek character. Mike McMahan also reflected on his live-action dream Star Trek: Lower Decksand perhaps this could be the next phase of the USS Cerritos someday.
