Although details about Gerwig Chronicles of Narnia movies are still in short supply, movies are confirmed and will be specifically connected to Netflix.

In fact, although Gerwig has evidently signed on for a 2023 film, Netflix acquired the rights to the franchise in 2018, suggesting this plan has been in the works for some time. Like the previous one Chronicles of Narnia films, which began in 2005, Gerwig's reboot will be based on The Chronicles of Narnia series of novels, written by CS Lewis. Gerwig's films will undoubtedly take a new direction, but what exactly that will entail remains to be seen.

Gerwig's story with Barbie certainly makes this an interesting prospect. Not only was it Barbie a huge box office success, but it was also clear that Gerwig took great care with the film and its cast and crew. It will be exciting to see what Gerwig does next, especially with these stories that already have that history, but in the meantime, Barbie is now finally streaming on Netflix, making the highest-grossing film of 2023 available to all of the platform's subscribers.
