Everyone who dies in carry-on luggage

Netflix Christmas Action Movie Continue is a fun new thriller that feels like the streaming service's answer to Die Hard, and includes many character deaths. ContinueThe cast has several names who have proven their talent in action and drama in the past, and who create moments of tension throughout the film. The film received positive reception from critics and audiences and currently has an 86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Centering on TSA agent Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton), who is working the X-ray machine on Christmas Eve, Continue It quickly becomes a fight between good and evil as Ethan struggles with the illegal task he is forced to do, eventually leading to ContinueJason Bateman the Traveler's intense finale is the villain. Ethan is asked to allow a suitcase to pass through security, despite knowing it could lead to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people as his girlfriend's life is at risk. Like many popular Christmas action films, ContinueThe hero is unable to save everyone in his quest to protect his partner, and there are several deaths throughout the film.

Olek and his nephew Yuri

Their deaths serve as an introduction to the film.

In the film's opening scene, a mysterious man enters a greenhouse at the back of a Christmas tree farm. It is clear that he is there to make a deal with the man who works on the farm, although the audience does not know what that deal might be. The mysterious man hands over a bag of money, and immediately after checking the bag, the recipient, a man named Olek, coughs up blood and dies. When his nephew Yuri runs to see what happened, he too is shot and killed by the mysterious man.

This introduction creates a tense tone in the film, as the identities and motives of all the characters remain largely unknown. Later, when the police investigate the greenhouse fire and the deaths of Olek and Yuri, it is revealed that the police had been tracking them for some time because of their involvement in selling weapons to Russian gangs. However, the police admit they don't know why the two would be killed by Russian groups who usually helped. Clearly, they had something the mysterious killer wanted, but that item remains a mystery until later in the film.

Lionel Williams

Lionel is killed to stop him from checking the bag

After TSA agent Ethan Kopek is forced to help the mysterious Traveler by agreeing to let a suitcase through security in exchange for the life of his girlfriend Nora, Ethan makes several attempts to expose the Traveler's plan. After unsuccessfully trying to use his phone to call the police and using his watch to record his voice, Ethan formulates new plans to avoid the security raid. the Traveler makes his intentions to kill Nora clear. Finally, Ethan calls his superior officer, Lionel Williams, and tries to send a message to him using invisible ink on a note.

Just as Williams is walking away to check the ticket, the Traveler bumps into Lionel Williams. Something he does causes Williams to have a heart attack and die as Ethan watches helplessly. Lionel Williams is, unfortunately, collateral damage in the Traveler's plan as Williams' ticket check would reveal that an illegal object would be placed on a flight. This death also forces Ethan to continue cooperating with the Traveler, as he now knows that the Traveler would actually kill Nora if necessary.

TSA Agent Sarkowski

Sarkowski is killed by Mateo

After nearly defeating the Traveler in a fight, the Traveler informs Ethan that he has just weaponized the nerve agent to be released throughout the airportwho will kill everyone if Ethan doesn't let him go. Ethan runs to the bag search room to find the gun, knowing that his boss and the suspect, Mateo Flores, will also be there. Upon entering the room, Ethan points the gun at his boss, Agent Sarkowski, but is unable to shoot him. Instead, Mateo Flores grabs a pen from the table and stabs Sarkowski in the neck.

Sarkowski dies from the stab wound before Ethan Kopek has the chance to save him. However, he makes it to the room in time to deactivate the Novichok nerve agent in the carry-on luggage and save the lives of everyone else at the airport. So, somewhat similar to Lionel Williams, Sarkowski's death was unplanned and happened because Ethan tried to stop the nerve agent to get on the plane. Ethan also discovers that despite Mateo's quick action in killing Sarkowski, he was also unintentionally arrested while bringing the suitcase to the airport.

Homeland Security Agent Alcott

The real Alcott does not appear, but his impersonator is killed by Detective Cole

While driving to the airport to talk to Kopek about the 911 call he tried to make at the beginning of the film, LAPD Detective Elena Cole receives a call about the potentially dangerous people flying through LAX that day, as well as Security Officer Intern arriving at the office to meet her. When your partner tells you the agent's name is Alcott, Cole is immediately suspicious, as the man she is with said he was Agent Alcott.. Instead, it reveals him as a fraud who is plotting to release Novichok.

Once she realizes that the man she is with is not the real Alcott, she pulls the gun on him. However, he tries to fight her while they are on the highway, which results in a multi-car accident. After their car stops, the fake Alcott tries to kill Elena Cole by suffocating her, but she manages to shoot him. Although she was already convinced that something was wrong at LAX, this revelation proved her right.

Matthew Flores

Mateo is killed in a fight with Ethan

Despite knowing the truth about Mateo's role in the plot, Ethan and Mateo are unable to work together for long, as the Traveler orders Mateo to kill Ethan. When trying to hide Sarkowski's body Mateo shoots Ethan, but Ethan sees him in time to get out of the way.. The two men fight as they are carried through the baggage carousels in a very amusing scene. Ethan tries to chase the bag with the gun, while avoiding Mateo's bullets.

Not realizing that the plastic gun will continue to heat up as he shoots, Mateo shoots Ethan until the gun explodes in his hand, causing him to be hit by a piece of the gun. As he dies, Mateo apologizes to Ethan, creating an emotional moment in which the film allows its viewers to fully understand that Mateo had no choice in his actions as he believed that killing Ethan would save his husband's life.

The Observer

Mateo's husband escapes and kills the observer to help Nora

After stabbing Eddie, the Watcher continues to chase Nora into a parking lot, but destroys her van, allowing Mateo's husband to escape the handcuffs behind his back. Just as Nora and Ethan finally reunite, the Watcher finds them and points a gun at them both. At that moment, a shot rings out, but it is revealed that the Vigilante was shot by Mateo's husbandsaving Ethan and Nora.

While Nora and Ethan's reunion is a happy moment in the tense film, it is equally sad when Mateo's husband finds out that Mateo has died. Ethan tries to console him by stating that Mateo's actions were all in hopes of helping his husband and that the situation wasn't actually his fault. In this scene, Ethan also finally realizes that the Traveler's plot is more complicated than anyone has ever imagined. Mateo received two tickets and was actually flying to Washington, D.C. instead of New York, meaning the police were looking at the wrong terminal.

The Traveler

Ethan Kopek finally overcomes the villain in the film's climax

At the climax of Carry-On, Jason Bateman's villain the Traveler manages to board a plane bound for Washington, D.C., but the police are already following his plan by this point. Ethan Kopek finds out where he is and decides to take matters into his own hands by getting on the plane before taking off and defusing the bomb while the plane is in the air. However, the Traveler receives an alert on his phone about the overtaking and goes to the basement to check his bag, knowing that Ethan is intervening.

The Traveler shoots Ethan again and tries to convince him to give up the gun, but Ethan tricks him by dismantling the gun and hiding half of it while the Traveler is distracted by the other half. Finally, Ethan manages to lock the Traveler in an airtight refrigerator with the second half of the weapon. Since the container was broken in their fight, the nerve agent begins to be released into the refrigerator, killing the Traveler with his own weapon. Fortunately, the plane lands and Ethan is able to reunite with his girlfriend, having proven himself worthy of becoming a police officer as he always dreamed of.

In many ways, Continue is a typical action film with several deaths that occur throughout, but the exciting airport setting and Christmas theme take the film to the next level. While Continue may not achieve classic Christmas status Die Hardis certainly a fun watch to add to any Christmas movie list. Continue is a tense action thriller that will keep audiences on edge until the end.
