Some of the most criticized and neglected elements of Star Wars Franchises are starting to see a resurgence of recognition in recent properties. Almost 50 years old, the huge multimedia system Star Wars The franchise, unsurprisingly, hasn't always pleased viewers, with some properties – like the sequel trilogy – being the target of intense criticism. Furthermore, with two main continuities and decades of stories told across multiple mediums, many Star Wars the stories are simply obscure to the point of being forgotten by all but the most loyal viewers.
Still recent Star Wars properties began referencing the more overlooked corners of the franchise. As it stands, the Star Wars The legends continuity, which was once the franchise's official canon, has served as a source of inspiration for the modern canon, but this has been general for the most part. While some of the most famous elements of Expanded Universe lore have made their way into properties like the sequel trilogy and spin-off films, the more specific side of Legends is now finding its way into new Disney+ shows, including the lore of some of the most criticized properties . .
No one expected to see the holiday special in 2024
The Star Wars Holiday Special was inflicted Star Wars viewers look forward to the continuing adventures of A New Hope heroes in 1978. Although new and canonical Star Wars stories were already released less than a year later A New Hope in the form of comic books and novels, the Holiday Special was a live-action TV special featuring the return of many of the actors from the original film. The special itself, however, was bizarre, to say the least. Although there have been arguably worse Star Wars properties launched in the last decade, The special holiday is often seen as the low point of the franchise.
Despite this, many Star Wars properties reference the infamous Holiday Special. Marvel classic Star Wars the comics include appearances by Malla, Lumpawaroo and Attichitcuk. The Mandalorian it references the Wookiee holiday Life Day, and Marvel even published a comic book in the modern canon centered around Life Day. More recently, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew includes the same holographic circus performance that Lumpawaroo saw in Holiday Specialbringing yet another installment of the infamously strange property into the latest continuity.
Skeleton Crew Gave a Legacy to the Ewok Films
THE Ewoks TV movies were the first live-action films Star Wars properties to be released after Return of the Jediwith Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor debuting in 1984 and 1985, respectively. These Legends era films lean heavily towards the fantasy side of Star Wars galaxy and further explore the Forest Moon of Endor, which turns out to be much more dangerous than Return of the Jedi suggests.
THE Ewoks films are not as ridiculed as Holiday Specialbut due to their relative obscurity, they are often forgotten despite being live action Star Wars property. Still, elements of the Ewoks films have made it into modern canonical properties, like 2015's Star Wars: Battlefront and 2017 Star Wars Forces of Destiny. The most recent and dominant recognition of Ewoks films are in Skeleton Crewwhich includes a member of the swift Teek species as a boatman in Porto Borgo.
Now we have Rotta The Hutt, from the Clone Wars movie
Despite debuting before Star Wars partial continuity reboot of the franchise, 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars it is a modern canonical property. Although the TV series of the same name is loved by viewers, the film is often looked down upon. Allegedly, howeverRotta the Hutt – son of Jabba and key character in the 2008 film The Clone Wars film – will appear in the next The Mandalorian and Grogu filmgiving the character his first appearance in over a decade.
These recent references to Star Wars the most ridiculed (or forgotten) stories in the franchise, although hardly an apologia, may indicate a gradual change in attitude towards them. The special holiday is arguably captivating in its sheer madness and in the Ewoks films enrich the lore of Endor while making full use of Star Wars side of fantasy. Despite The Clone Wars' reception, is part of the seven seasons The Clone Wars subfranchise that so many viewers love.
