Honkai: Star Trail is getting ready to release its 3.0 update, but how have essential DPS units performed since launch? 3.0 appears to be the biggest update the game has ever seen. Along with tons of new mechanics and quality of life updates, the hit gacha game is getting its first new path. The Remembrance Path is focused on summoning minions to help with damage, and while this may be a pure DPS class, it may have some hybrid characters to expand its uses.
Although the meta has changed numerous times since launch, the core team of Star Trail it has barely changed. Teams are almost always made up of one DPS, two support characters and one support character to keep everyone alive. The two areas where this is not the case are DOT teams, which have been largely neglected since the release of Black Swan, and Pure Fiction, which generally benefits from two DPS units to quickly eliminate enemy waves.

Jade and Kafka have future potential
Quantum Erudition 5 Stars/Lightning Nihility 5 Stars
Jade and Kafka share a place due to their current niche uses but immense potential. Jade has a role for future Pure Fiction-focused teams with options like The Herta. There's also a chance that future Remembrance or Erudite units will allow her to make the most of her kit. Unfortunately, given the niche nature of this kit, it's unlikely she's anything more than a Pure Fiction expert.
On the other hand, Kafka is the main facilitator of DOT teams, but suffers from a lack of teammates. If Star Trail Returning to this type of goal, Kafka will be the best option for using stacks frequently. However, there is concern that a newer unit will emerge that can do its job better, or at least with a new element.

Imbibitor Lunae works, but is clunkier
Imaginary Destruction 5 Stars
Lunae was a powerful addition to the roster when he was released, and while he can still deal damage, he is no longer the best choice. This is partly due to the meta moving away from him and partly due to how clunky he is. Given that your most powerful attack needs to consume three skill points, the rest of his team needs to be extremely SP positive, the only alternative is when he uses his ultimate to get free skill points.
With these restrictions, the best teammates for Lunae are premium options that revolve around having Sparkleone of Star TrailBetter Harmony units, for extra skill points. Without Sparkle, Lunae's teams become more difficult to manage. Not to the point where it becomes unusable, but not as flexible and consistent as the top options.

Rappa the weakest Break DPS
Imaginary Erudition 5 Stars
Despite how strong Break's teams are, Rappa still manages to be a bit underwhelming. While his kit is fun and flashy, it's not as strong as his Break rivals. She may be a strong option for Pure Fiction, but that alone isn't enough to guarantee a high rating.
Even though the teams they use are the same, Rappa struggles with being the only Break DPS without a weakness implant. This makes it difficult to place her in any battle that doesn't have a large number of enemies weak to Imaginary. This may change a bit with the release of Tingyun Fugue, which may ignore some resistance but will still leave Rappa behind Boothill and Firefly.

Dr. Ratio is still amazing for a free unit
5 Star Imaginary Hunt
Given that he was a free offering that most players offered, Dr. Ratio is a near-top tier DPS option. If not for Feixiao, he would be the best follow-up DPS. He is relatively easy to build and can deal more than enough damage to clear most of the game's content..
If Ratio has a downside, it would be that its best teams aren't very friendly. Your best team adds Topaz, Robin and Aventurine, who combine to form a powerful team with incredible synergy. He has some beneficial 4-star replacements for higher-budget accounts, but the demotion of his best teammate is noticeable.
6
Boothill is strong if you play with it
5 Star Physics Hunt
Boothill was the first Break DPS added to RHS but currently it is the second best. For comparison, he uses the same units as the Break team and has high overall damage scaling. His problem is similar to Rappas, which is the need for weak physical enemies to be more effective. He has more room to maneuver, as his ultimate can cause physical weakness, but is still slower than Firefly..
Boothill, even more than Rappa, could receive the biggest boost RHSEscape from Tingyun. It would provide your already heavy and enhanced attack with the ability to ignore some resistance. With this, he will be able to accumulate his stacks and ultimate more quickly, streamlining his stop-and-go style of play.

Jing Yuan continues to receive “buffs”
5-Star Lightning Erudite
When Jing Yuan was released, he was a cool character who was unfortunately weak. His personal damage was minimal and his Lightning Lord was very inconsistent. However, as characters like Sparkle, Robin and Sunday with their better builds were released, Jing Yuan kept receiving indirect buffs that increased his status.
Another reason to watch Jing Yuan is the future support characters aimed at summoning Rememberance. Since your Lightning Lord counts as one, any support unit that increases damage, abilities, or summon speed can also work for him.. Any of these options are unlikely to make him a top-tier option, but give him a respectful role given his age and low starting rating.
4
Yunli is extremely strong, although he is underestimated
5 Star Physical Destruction
Yunli was a quickly forgotten character since she was freed shortly before Feixiao, but her strength should not be ignored. This counter specialist is simple to build and deals incredible damage with her scaling stats. She also has more economical teams than most of the main options, making her a beneficial unit for weak physical enemies.
The struggle with Yunli is consistency. Since most of her damage comes when she counterattacks, her signature Cone of Light is almost essential to maximize when she is attacked.. Without its Light Cone, Lynx can be used as a dressing solution, but it will not be as sustainable as better options. Yunli is still visibly powerful with these drawbacks, but shows her true strength when she manages to have her best setup.
3
Acheron is staying strong
5-Star Lightning Nihility
Although she has fallen from her top spot, Acheron is still a top-tier DPS option. When built correctly and surrounded by the right team, her damage is immense and her ultimate can be acquired quickly. It helps to have your Light Cone, but there are some alternative options that help with this. Regardless, she can still deal some of the highest damage numbers in the game.
Acheron's biggest detractors are the parts of his kit that limit his teammates. Without her second Eidolon, she needs two other Nhility characters to maximize her ultimate damage, so to fit a Harmony support, with Sparkle being her best option, some of that needs to be sacrificed. Their best Nihility support is Jiaoqiu who, while useful, was so specific and stood out among the highly anticipated characters that he was ignored by many. This leaves Pela as a good replacement, but no longer the best in the slot.
2
Feixiao won his first place
5 Star Wind Hunt
Feixiao was without a doubt the most anticipated character of the 2.0 updates, and she lived up to that. This FUA specialist deals incredible damage with her follow-ups and her flexible ultimate. Everything that comes in Feixiao's kit makes it an incredible option for any content, regardless of the enemy's mechanics or weaknesses.
Feixiao also has few, if any, disadvantages. It is easy to build, has flexible Light Cone options and cost-effective crews. Your main team of Topázio, Robin and Aventurina is the one that stands out the most, but doesn't outperform your other options that much. Overall, anyone with Feixiao has a unit that can probably clear most of HSR's tougher content in the near future.

Firefly is the queen of Honkai: Star Rail
5-Star Fire Destruction
As good as the other top options are, they simply can't compete with the Firefly's flexibility and strength. Despite already being a fan favorite when she launched, her kit proved she deserved all the attention. This Break DPS can easily implement Fire Weakness on enemies, and its powerful kit can deal the most Super Break damage of all three options..
The other thing that helped Firefly was the Break support units. Lingsha's Fire element works perfectly with Firefly, and before her Gallagher could make use of it as well. Tingyun Fugue may not buff Firefly as much as the other two, but it can also function as a mini DPS unit to break units quickly. All of this allows Firefly to maximize her time dealing Super Break damage. Firefly may not be the best option for long with a new Path coming, but she is the only unit on this list that will likely never drop. RHSthe future.
Overall, the beauty of RHS That's it, as goals and modes change. Few DPS units are actually left behind to the point of being unplayable. The only big problems with this were Blade and Seele, which are unfortunately now too niche to use constantly. However, the rest are still respectable units that occasionally receive indirect buffs from new characters. Regardless, going into 3.0, these are the ten best DPS characters in Honkai: Star Trail.
