Sister Wives star Meri Brown has always been presented as the victim of her polygamous husband, Kody Brown, but she is the main architect of his unhappiness. Meri, 53, was Kody's first wife, and the two married in 1990. Although they came from polygamous families, when they got married, the plan wasn't necessarily to get more wives. Over the next three years, Kody would have two additional wives, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown. 16 years later, he would marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown.
Although the unscripted series was supposed to chronicle the lives of a functional polygamous family, at the time Sister Wives When season 19 premiered, the family was irrevocably divided. In 2021, Kody's third wife, Christine, left the marriage, followed by his second wife, Janelle. In 2022, after 32 years of marriage and 1 child together, Meri ended her spiritual union with Kody and abandoned her plural marriage forever. Since then, Meri has been loyal to the wrong family members.
Meri has always defended Kody and Robyn
They weren't good allies
Meri often felt like Christine and Janelle had ganged up on her, so when she met Robyn, she worked hard to add her to the family. This alienated Meri even more from her Sister Wives. After Christine and Janelle left, Meri continued alongside Kody and Robynalthough Kody told Meri he wasn't attracted to her. Meri could have left a long time ago, but she chose to tolerate Kody's neglect. Now she's mad at Kody, but Meri should be mad at herself.
Meri was never very close to Christine or Janelle
They never got along
Over the years, the Brown family has been tacitly divided into two factions. On one side were Christine and Janelle, while Kody and Robyn were on the other side. Meri has repeatedly sided with Kody and Robyn, and the the split only got worse after the divorces started pouring in in Kody's head. The truth is, even in the best of times, Meri wasn't close to Christine and Janelle, so nothing changed. Meri's power struggles with Christine and Janelle are why she wanted Kody to marry Robyn in the first place.
Is Meri the villain of The New Sister Wives Season 19?
Understandable anger
Meri tried to make the marriage work for much longer than she should have, but the Sister Wives the season 19 star finally snapped and walked away. Once she decided to leave, Meri stopped protecting Kody and Robyn, finally letting out all the anger she had been holding back. Although she was combative and emotional, it is perfectly understandable that she's angry about all the time she wasted being neglected by Kody. Meri should have left the marriage a long time ago, but since she can't change the past, it's better to move on and build a new life.
