One of Dear Santa ClausThe film's main actors recently made their major franchise debuts on Disney+, making its December 2024 release even more impressive. Despite a disappointing rating of just 22% in Rotten tomatoesthe Dear Santa Claus the cast still managed to entertain a lot of people on Paramount+, but one figure from the film had much more success in a project on another platform.
Although Dear Santa ClausThe ending of teases a possible sequel, a follow-up film has yet to be greenlit. This isn't surprising, as Paramount+ will likely want to monitor the film's performance throughout the holiday season before deciding whether to go ahead and order a sequel. Although Dear Santa Claus arrived on Paramount+ at the end of NovemberChristmas movie popularity has understandably increased in December as the big day approaches. Jack Black is brilliant as Asmodeus in Dear Santa Clausbut her co-star got a chance to shine even brighter this month.
Robert Timothy Smith plays Liam Turner in 2024's Dear Santa & Neel In Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Smith's December is festive and action-packed
Robert Timothy Smith's acting career is just beginning. However, the young star has started to get bigger and bigger roles, as evidenced by her presence not only in Dear Santa Clausbut also appearing as part of the main cast of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Smith's small but impressive acting history means it's forgivable not recognizing him yet, but Skeleton Crew makes it especially difficult to identify by covering it with prosthetics. Smith plays Neel in the latest Disney+ film Star Wars show, which premiered its first two episodes on December 3.
Smith's big December was foreshadowed in September when he appeared as part of the Wolves cast alongside Hollywood legends Brad Pitt and George Clooney. It may have only been a small role, but it also got Smith back into acting after not appearing in anything since an episode of Mythic Quest in 2021. While it would be great for him to star alongside Jack Black in Dear Santa Claus, Smith's Skeleton Crew paper is a much bigger deal. Although your face is hidden, being part of the Star Wars universe could keep you busy for years.
Skeleton Crew's success makes up for dear Santa's lukewarm reception
The new Star Wars show is already receiving very favorable comparisons
As fun and festive as it is, Dear Santa Claus It's still a long way off the list of the best Christmas films of all time, or even in recent history. Reviews were mixed, but the film performed better with fans than critics. On the other hand, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was received with much greater acclaimwith comparisons to Steven Spielberg's classic coming-of-age films from decades past. So, although Dear Santa Claus will probably be forgotten in a few years, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a huge success for Smith.
