Netflixof 1992 features one twist after another to finally reveal the truth behind the central murders and Fernando Victoria's connection to them in his final moments. Created by Jorge Guerricaechevarría, Netflix 1992 centers on a widow, Amparo, and an alcoholic ex-cop, Richi, who form an unlikely alliance to solve the mystery behind a series of murders. Amparo puts her life at risk and sets out to unravel the mystery because she believes that her husband's death was not accidental.
Richi, on the other hand, accepts the case because he sees it as an opportunity to redeem himself. The Netflix original TV show's revelations paint it as a typical revenge story where a killer sets out to punish his mother's killers. However, in the final moments of the show, it becomes clear that there is more to his actions than meets the eye. Since the final revelations of the Spanish Netflix show can be a little disconcerting, a detailed look at what happens in 1992The final arc feels necessary.
Why Fernando Victoria manipulated Victor into committing the murders in 1992
He did it to save himself from bankruptcy
In 1992At the end of the episode, Richi suspects that someone was involved in the Flamethrower murders and that Victor could not have carried them out alone. He remembers seeing a letter from the film Rivas Guridi Attorneys in Fernando Victoria's mailbox, which suggested he was broke. This helps him and Amparo realize that Richi may have used Victor to commit the murders and at the same time gain monetary benefits from them. A flashback confirms that Richi met Victor around the same time he was going broke. Seeing this as an opportunity to make money, he devised a sinister scheme.
After removing himself from a photo that showed all the members (Esteban Palacios, José Zamorano, Roberto Valcarcel, Domingo Granjero and Fernando Victoria) of the Expo 1992 committee, Fernando showed it to Victor. He told him that the committee members were responsible for his mother's death and the cover-up and convinced him to kill them to avenge her murder. While Victor set out to seek revenge by punishing the men who wronged his mother, Fernando secretly pulled all the strings behind the scenes sending threats to committee members and demanding ransoms from them.
Flamethrower Killer's True Identity and Motives Explained
Victor becomes the flamethrower assassin to avenge his mother's death
Victor's story reveals that his mother, Margarita, was one of three sex workers invited to a party by the five Expo committee members. However, one of the commission members, Esteban, who later became a minister, accidentally killed her. Realizing that the entire committee would get a bad name for the murder, they hired Expo's head of security to help them cover up the crime.
Since Victoria and the other committee members needed money to pay the head of security to cover up their crime, they devised a scheme to receive a paycheck from the government. They started by making up a story, claiming that an anonymous blackmailer was threatening to ruin the Expo if he was not paid millions of dollars. When the government refused to pay, they sabotaged a ship at the Expo, asking the head of security to secretly plant explosives on it. To further convince the government that the blackmailer would not stop, they also asked the head of security to set the Expo pavilion on fire.
Decades later, after Fernando visited him and encouraged him to take revenge, Victor became Flamethrower's killer, serving his mother's killers the same fiery punishment he had to endure when he was younger.
Before setting it on fire, the head of security placed Margarita's body inside it to erase all evidence of her murder. However, moments after the guard set the building on fire, Victor appeared and tried to take his mother's body out of there. Unfortunately, he was badly burned during the process and almost died. Decades later, after Fernando visited him and encouraged him to take revenge, Victor became Flamethrower's killer, serving his mother's killers the same fiery punishment he had to endure when he was younger.
Why Victoria warned the minister before Victor killed him
He warns you because he paid the ransom
In the show's final arc, minister Esteban Palacios remains the killer's last victim. As the assassin successfully kills every other member of the Expo committee, Palacios fears he will suffer a similar fate. Therefore, he borrows $3 million from his wife and pays the ransom money, hoping that the killer will spare him once it is paid. Little does he know that the money will go to Fernando, which won't stop the real killer from carrying out his mission.
Although Fernando realizes that Victor will still kill Palacios because he wants to avenge his mother's death, he shows some pity for Palacios because, unlike the others, he pays the ransom. Therefore, Fernando calls Palacios and warns him moments before Victor appears at his house to kill him. To Palacios' dismay, the warning comes a little too late. Before he can flee the scene and save himself from the murderous Flamethrower, Victor breaks into his mansion and burns him to death.

How the 1992 Finale Sets Up Season Two
1992 is a miniseries
Since 1992 was promoted as a miniseriesIt seems unlikely that it will return for another season. The first installment of the show also appears to have a complete ending that leaves no loose ends. While it would be exciting to see Amaparo and Richi teaming up again to solve another murder mystery, 1992The future would depend on its performance on Netflix. For now, however, it's just a miniseries that probably won't be renewed for another edition.
