After 8 years, the Star Wars franchise corrected a mistake made in the iconic X-wing in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. X-wings, along with the Millennium Falcon and standard Imperial TIE Fighters, are among the most recognized and loved spacecraft in the world. Star Wars franchise, with Luke Skywalker famously piloting one in the Battle of Yavin and using it to destroy the Death Star. The classic T-65 X-wing is so iconic that the sequel era of the modern canon introduced new models like the T-70 and T-85 X-wings.
The trilogy's original T-65 Crewed by a humanoid pilot and an astromech droid navigator (and in-flight maintenance provider), the X-wing is a versatile, long-range craft equipped with a hyperdrive for independent travel across the galaxy. While the X-wing's profile is unmistakable, there have been consistent problems with its depiction since 2016.

Star Wars Made a Subtle X-Wing Mistake in 2016
The classic T-65 X-wings returned to the big screen in 2016 with Rogue One: A Star Wars Storywhich featured a new version of the battle in which the Rebels stole the Death Star plans. The vehicle models also, unfortunately, had a small error that many viewers may not have noticed. The backs of the X-wing's s-foils did not fully lock, resulting in a small gap between them when out of attack position.
As vehicle models Rogue One would continue to be used in the future Star Wars properties – albeit with minor modifications as needed – this problem remained noticeable. In addition to recent Disney+ TV shows, the error has even made its way to merchandise featuring newer X-wing collectibles, including S-foil blanks. Skeleton Crewhowever, it would finally correct this mistake in episode 3.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew fixed this 8-year-old mistake
Skeleton Crew Episode 3 “Very Interesting, As an Astrogation Problem” includes a sequence in which two New Republic X-wings pursue the Onyx Cinder. During the chase, the backs of the two X-wings become visible, revealing that the s-foil gap issue has been resolved.with the wings now able to lock properly when out of attack position. The initial problem with the X-wing's S-foils was certainly subtle, and its resolution in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is, appropriately enough, another blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail.
Skeleton Crew releases new episodes on Tuesdays on Disney+.
