A release date is announced

As work continues on the horror sequel, the latest news confirms the release date for Final Destination: Bloodlines. The upcoming sixth film in the franchise is now part of Warner Bros. next list and will be released in theaters on May 16, 2025. Befitting its large scale, Final Destination: Bloodlines will be shown in IMAX, although a number of other details about the film remain unknown.

One big question mark hanging over the sequel is the status of late horror icon Tony Todd. The star, who died in early November 2024, was supposed to appear in Final Destination: Bloodlines as his franchise character William Bludworth. However, his name was left off the most recent cast list provided by Warner Bros., and it is unknown whether he managed to film his parts of the film before he passed away.

Although Tony Todd was the only confirmed cast member when the film was officially announced, his return as series regular Bludworth is complemented by a new set of young stars. The plot of Final Destination: Bloodlines is surprisingly one of the most discussed aspects of the film. Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick explained (via Hidden remote control) that the film “It's not going to be just another 'we create a group of people, they cheat death, and then it's just death that gets them' kind of thing. Reddick added “…this is a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn't follow that kind of formula that we've established.”

The only real details revealed about the sixth film are how will focus on first responders and emergency professionals who are already deeply familiar with death – only this time they're the ones standing in his way. It has been suggested that the rules of the Final destination universe will be shaken in Final Destination: Bloodlinesalthough that likely won't be revealed until the film premieres.
