Why the Seinfeld cast hated working with Heidi Swedberg

Despite being her biggest role, Heidi Swedberg's stint as Susan Ross wasn't the most pleasant either, as Seinfeld the cast actually hated working with her, with several members speaking publicly about this experience. Jason Alexander told Howard Stern that his TV fiancée was impossible to work with, stating:

I couldn't figure out how to play her. Her instincts to make a scene, where the comedy was, and mine always failed. And she would do something, and I would say, 'OK, I see what she's going to do – I'll adjust to her.' And I would adjust, and then it would change.

Stern went on to talk about Larry David and Julia Louis-Dreyfus' opinions of Heidi Swedberg after finally working on a few scenes with her, stating:

What [David] I said what Heidi brought to the character is that we could do the most horrible things with her, and the audience was still on my side… They said, 'You know what? It's impossible. It's impossible… And Julia actually said, 'Don't you just want to kill her?' And Larry said, 'Ka-bang!'

This, of course, sealed the fate of Heidi Swedberg's Susan Ross, and she ended up being killed off despite being engaged to George. It's a shame that behind the scenes things didn't work out between Swedberg and the rest of the cast during Seinfeldas Susan served as a good foil to the main characters, being the most sensible and “normal” person alongside the rest of the group.
