Stardew Valley's proposal takes advantage of farming in an adorable way

Proposals are a relatively common occurrence in Valley of the Starsbut seeing a proposal that is creative with the concept can be refreshing. A new creative proposal made between a couple who were already married in real life shows Valley of the StarsThe game's potential for cute gestures, especially when they push the boundaries typical of the game's romance systems. While giving your wedding ring to another player might be romantic, taking advantage of the game's primary mechanics to cultivate something special is even better.

Reddit user sweetest shelby shared the in-game proposal made by her real-life husband, which explains “MARRY ME?“in sunflowers. Since sunflowers take eight days to grow, it's not a feat that can be accomplished immediately, but sweetestshelby didn't often check this corner of the farm.

Sunflowers are apparently Shelby's favorite flower, making this a particularly thoughtful gesture. This clearly earned him some points, as getting a popular post on Reddit celebrating a romantic gesture shows that this didn't go unnoticed.

The perfect Stardew Valley proposal takes time

Patience is a virtue

The eight-day period required to achieve this was aided by the fact that sweetestshelby prefers to spend her time in the city tending to the farm animals, letting her husband work on his project in secret. Creating convincing letters in the allotted space comes with some challengesas Sudden Dimension-645 points out in a comment transcribing the proposal as “MqAAY ME?“, but that doesn't change how sweet the effort is.

Accomplishing something similar in real life would pose significantly greater challenges, so It's the perfect kind of idea for the video game format. Couples who split farm work more evenly may have a harder time pulling off something like this, but there are plenty of other ways to be creative, especially when focusing on what your partner enjoys most.

Our opinion: Stardew Valley is great for couples

Cooperative that works for everyone

As it is a cozy game with a wide variety of gameplay possibilities, Valley of the Stars is exceptionally suitable as a way for couples to spend time together. Sweetestshelby notes that they have played enough to reach Skull Cavern level 100 and find all of the golden walnuts on Ginger Island, but they still have other goals ahead of them.

While I've played cooperative farming games before, I've also spent a lot of time rushing to fit all my Valley of the Stars or Harvest Moon household chores in a day, and having a partner to help can definitely make for a more relaxing experience. It can also clearly be a great springboard for romantic overtures, at least when there's enough creativity involved to make it special.
