Superwoman's team combines the powers of three Kryptonian heroes from the Superman family. Each member possesses unique qualities that allow them to stand out, and all are valuable additions to a super-powered lineup. Kara Zor-El's Supergirl stands out as the only naturally born Kryptonian, having grown up on Krypton before its destruction. His powers, which include heat vision and enhanced durability, are very similar to Superman's as a result of their shared biology. She also recently acquired a mind control ability that allows her to alter other people's memories, making her a valuable asset to Superwoman's roster.

Superwoman's team also features Lana Lang, who also fights under the name Superwoman. A former love interest of Clark Kent from his years on Smallville, Lana developed Kryptonian powers when she absorbed them from the late New 52 Superman. As Superwoman, Lana bears a resemblance to Clark's 1990s “Superman Red” clone, whose powers are energy-based and present themselves through sparks of red electricity. Now, through circumstances that have yet to be revealed, Lois Lane has become the second Superwoman and can now take on villains with these Kryptonian-level women by her side.

Superman #19 Superwoman Lois Lane

Typically, Superman serves as the leader of the Super-Family due to his prolific status in DC lore and his position as the strongest Kryptonian on Earth. With Superman leading the charge, Superman's family tends to be somewhat male-centric, as women tend to be marginalized in favor of men. Here, Lois Lane replaces Superman in this central role by uniting Supergirl and Lana Lang's Superwoman to create their own group within their heroic family unit. Superwoman Leading an all-female team of Kryptonians offers a refreshing change of pace for the Superman family, highlighting its women in a new and exciting way.

Superwoman Special #1 is available December 11, 2024 from DC Comics.
