Few stories are more iconic in the world of horror than that of Frankenstein. First appearing in the form of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel, Frankenstein tells the story of an overly ambitious scientist who manages to give new life to a creature he engineered from parts of various corpses, only to discover the dark consequences of his actions too late. Now, although the exact release date has yet to be revealed, Netflix has announced that horror legend Guillermo del Toro will present his own version of the classic tale.
An element that has already left the public excited about Guillermo del Toro's film Frankenstein is its star-studded cast. Oscar Isaac will take on the role of scientist Victor Frankenstein, with Jacob Elordi set to take on the role of the iconic monster. Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz are among the other actors who will appear in yet-to-be-revealed roles. With a timeless story and writing direction from a horror icon like del Toro, expectations are very high for this latest adaptation of Frankenstein.

More than two decades after the launch of 28 days laterand 18 years later 28 weeks laterfans are finally getting the next long-awaited sequel they've been wanting. Years after the events of the original sequel 28 years later will explore what remains of the world after it has been largely destroyed by the Rage virus and how the remaining survivors adapt when the virus makes its shocking return.
To the delight of fans of the first film, 28 years later will feature the return of Danny Boyle as director and Alex Garland as writer, both reprising their behind-the-scenes roles from 28 days later. Cillian Murphy, basking in his recent Oscar win for Oppenheimeris also returning to star as Jim once again. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes are also set to appear in the film.

The Monkey

In the world of horror literature, few names are better known than Stephen King. Numerous stories by the acclaimed author have been adapted into classic horror films over the years, including Misery, The Shiningand The Shawshank Redemption. Now, one of King's lesser-known stories is getting an exciting new film adaptation. Expected to arrive in February, The Monkey follows two twin brothers who believe their father's vintage toy monkey is somehow responsible for a series of grotesque and inexplicable deaths.
The Monkey is being written and directed by Osgood Perkins, who rose to prominence in 2024 as a writer and director of Long legsanother great horror film. Theo James will star as Hal and Bill, the two twins, with Tatiana Maslany and Elijah Wood among the other confirmed cast members. The idea of combining a Stephen King story with Perkins' inspired direction has potential viewers very excited about this upcoming film, especially as it arrives so soon after the success of Long legs.

More than 80 years after the launch of The Wolf Manthe classic horror creature is making a dramatic return to the big screen. Simply titled Wolf ManThe upcoming reimagining of the horrific monster story will follow a family of three as they move to rural Oregon after a mysterious death in the family. The trio soon clash after one of them is scratched by a werewolf, causing him to gradually transform into a version of the beast as well.
Wolf Man is being written and directed by Leigh Whannell, a decision that has made many horror aficionados happy. Whannell is perhaps best known for writing the groundbreaking 2004 horror film, Mountain rangeand for directing the 2020 sci-fi/horror film, The Invisible Manwhich received widespread critical praise. Other notable figures like Jason Blum and Ryan Gosling are also attached to the project as producers. Wolf Man will help set the tone for 2025's horror lineup, which will be released in theaters on January 17th.

This is the case Sinnersthe upcoming horror film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Although not much is known about the original story, it has been revealed that Sinners will follow Elijah and Elijah, two twin brothers who discover a mysterious evil that awaits them when they return to their hometown. Both twins will be played by Michael B. Jordan, a frequent collaborator of Coogler's. Hailee Steinfeld and Delroy Lindo were also announced as part of the cast. Rua do Medo: Queen of the Ball

In 2021, Netflix introduced the world to Street of Fear trilogy, the streaming service's adaptation of another book series by Goosebumps author, R.L. Stine. The trilogy became very popular with audiences upon its release, as fans loved how it managed to present stories from three distinct time periods while maintaining a cohesive, overarching narrative. Now Street of Fear the series is expanding into another new era: the 1980s. Rua do Medo: Queen of the Ball will introduce a new horror story to the students of Shadyside High.
Set in 1988 (placing everything between the events of the second and third films), Rua do Medo: Queen of the Ball will follow a competitive race between popular girls trying to become their class' homecoming queen, but mysterious circumstances arise when some of the girls begin to disappear. This new addition to the franchise will be directed by Matt Palmer, making it the first film not directed by Leigh Janiak. The official release date has not been confirmed, but viewers can expect Rua do Medo: Queen of the Ball will be on Netflix until the end of 2025.

Due to its huge commercial success (earning well over 10 times its budget), it was no further surprise that the film would receive a sequel. M3GAN 2.0which will serve as a continuation of the original story, will be released in theaters in the summer of 2025, with another spin-off confirmed for 2026 as well.
Specific plot details have yet to be released, but viewers can certainly expect to see a lot more horror and humor surrounding the titular artificially intelligent doll. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will reprise their roles as Gemma and Cady, the aunt and niece duo at the center of the original film. Additionally, writer Akela Cooper and director Gerard Johnstone will return to the same producing roles for the sequel. In an era where artificial intelligence is the main focus, M3GAN 2.0 is bound to be as topical as it is horrible.

In 2008, Bryan Bertino wrote and directed The strangersa disturbing horror film that gained him a lot of recognition, inspiring a series of sequels/spin-offs years later. Now after almost five years without another new film Bertino is returning to the spotlight writing and directing the next horror film Vicious. The film, which has already aroused the curiosity of many, will follow a woman who finds herself forced to fight for her own existence after going down the rabbit hole inside a mysterious gift she receives.
Vicious will star Dakota Fanning, who just received her first Golden Globe nomination for her supporting performance in the Netflix drama series, Ripley. Kathryn Hunter and Rachel Blanchard are among the other artists who will appear in the film. With such a unique and disturbing premise, Vicious it's another 2025 horror film that will certainly receive a lot of attention when its release arrives.
