The patch also includes a number of bug fixes for console and PC that will resolve some of the crashes during difficult or hidden boss fights, as well as several performance issues experienced since launch.

The new gameplay features, especially the addition of a map function, demonstrate the capability of the studio behind Dark Myth: WukongGameScience, for address problem areas in the game. Locations that could seem difficult and disorienting to navigate, for example, were a problem in the later parts of the story. The update arrives just in time for the holiday season and is sure to please longtime fans of Dark Myth: Wukong and anyone thinking about playing the game for the first time.

The Destined One will find four new special armor pieces “created to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year” in the form of a “Pathfinder's Gift” at any Guardian Shrine on your journey. The set is sure to get players in the New Year's spirit and spread “joy and prosperity all year round.”

The Opulence Armor Set is just one of many new items introduced in the patch update, and it's a great way to give new players more variety when they start the game. Several other new rare items will also be included as rewards for Challenge Mode and will complement this set in interesting ways. The addition and inclusion of all these new items is a promising sign of what could be in store for Black Myth from now onand has some fans speculating about possible future DLC, although nothing official has been announced.

One of the many new features introduced in the new patch is the Challenge game mode, available once players reach NG+. It will be added to the Guardian Sanctuary menu and will include two different types: the “Return of Rivals” and the “Gauntlet of Legends”. The first Challenge mode allows players on NG+ “challenge a former opponent to a duel” in three different difficulty levels. This is essentially a rematch feature that will only be available to bosses that have already been defeated in the game, although it's unclear right now how players will be rewarded.

The new map feature in Black Myth: Wukong

The Traveler's Map: A Practical Addition to Dark Myth

Perhaps the most practical addition Dark Myth: Wukong in the latest patch is the inclusion of a map feature that felt like a glaring omission from the game in its original form. It seems developers at GameScience heard the resounding calls to add a map, as the patch introduces the Journeyer's Chart and gives players a sense of where they are without the need for landmarks or guesswork. “A notable captured these landscapes, organizing them into maps for orientation and marking.” which can be purchased from Guardian Shrines.

When the Destined first enters Blackwind Mountain and encounters the Guardian, he will give players their first Traveler's Map, allowing them to navigate the maps much more easily. In each subsequent area, the Traveler Cards can be acquired at the Guardian's Sanctuary store as soon as players enter the location and find the first Sanctuary. This new map feature will be a saving grace for players old and new and will make navigating later chapters much simpler, or as Game Science puts it: “Let the graph trace the traveler's journey.”

New music library function in Black Myth: Wukong

The new update gives players a soundtrack selection option

If all that wasn't enough, Game Science also decided to add a really cool music library function to the game. There will now be a “Dark Myth: Wukong Soundtrack Selection” as a soundtrack application that allows players to listen to all the (copyright-free) material they want and choose from available sheet music. They noted that “Due to configuration issues in EPIC, Black Myth: Wukong Deluxe Edition Upgrade purchasers may experience delays in receiving their soundtrack selection.” The new update's musical features are just the icing on the cake for fans of Dark Myth: Wukong.

Overall, this patch includes some serious additional content that promises to give players plenty to do during the holiday season. It's important to note that as of this writing, the patch has only been released on Epic Games, not Steam or console, and GameScience has only indicated that the patch will be released “gradually on other platforms.” The timeframe for the patch release is not entirely clear, so anyone not using EPIC will have to wait until the patch updates are fully released. Anyway, fans of Dark Myth: Wukong We have a lot to look forward to with patch 1.0.12.16581.
