While I would consider The Mandalorian To be one of the most rewatchable Star Wars So far, I’ve found that I have a hard time going back to one particular episode of season 2. The Mandalorian Being my personal favorite Star Wars project, I have revisited the series many times, especially the first two seasons. I prefer not to skip any episodes when doing a rewatch, although the temptation to get to my favorite episodes can make that difficult. While this isn’t always a challenge, one episode in particular now gives me pause.

The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 4 “Chapter 12: The Siege” takes us back to Navarro, where Carl Weathers’ Griff Karga and Gina Carano’s Kara Dune were last seen in. The Mandalorian Season 1 finale. This episode was Weathers’ directorial debut in Star WarsAnd it wasn’t a poorly received episode in the slightest, as it currently sits with a score of 8.3 on IMDb – making it the 14th highest rated episode of the series on the site (out of 24). There are, however, a few behind-the-scenes factors that make it hard for me to recall this episode.

Nevarro’s crew is no longer the same

The Nevarro trio fractured after Season 2

The most painful thing about rewatching this episode, at least for me, is seeing the Navarro crew that once served as The MandalorianThe leading cast in season 1. By the end of season 1, Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin, Cara Dune, and Greef Karga had all become unlikely yet powerful allies, and the episode was a sweet reunion at the time it aired. But in the years since, The group’s relationship was filled with some awkwardness and tragedyThat certainly affected the episode’s impact on me.

The first blow came when Carano was fired from The Mandalorian and other Lucasfilm projects in the early part of 2021, just after season 2 has wrapped. In the years since, she’s filed a lawsuit using her co-stars Pascal and Weathers’ social media posts against them, which has created an awkward sort of tension. The next wreck is more tragic, with the sudden passing of Weathers in February of this year. Although it is wonderful that his legacy is forever cemented within The MandalorianIt still hurts my heart to see him and his liveliness on screen.

The final element in this trio, at least for me, is Pascal himself – especially in this episode. As a very talented actor, and my personal favorite thanks to him starring in this very role, Pascal in The Mandalorian’s Bescar is priceless. Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Season 2 confirms that Pascal was in the suit for most of this particular episode, as he was for many episodes in season 2, and it showed in his image. It’s hard to watch Pascal in the suit knowing that now, in a post-Season 2 world, he’s rarely ever in it anymore.

The setup of the Rangers of the New Republic is unnecessary

This obvious setup makes me cringe, knowing what ultimately happens

Carson Teva makes Kara Dune a New Republic Marshal in The Mandalorian.

Carano’s firing didn’t just affect the Nevarro trio and their relationship. It was also a major factor in the spin-off series Rangers of the New Republic Finally getting scrapped, which was set up in this episode of The Mandalorian. There’s an entire scene near the end of the episode dedicated to building a bridge between Captain Carson Teva and Kara DunnWhere the former recruits the latter as the new Republic Marshal. It’s meant to foreshadow her future role as a ranger of the New Republic, though now it’s simply a reminder of what never came to be.

This was only the first wave in a wide ripple effect of Rangers of the New Republics cancellation. The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian Season 3, and Ahsoka All seem to contain elements clearly meant for the spin-off show, with one episode of season 3 focusing almost entirely on what was clearly meant to be a plot line in that show. It all started here, in this episode, where it was clearly established. It’s hard to watch this back, especially knowing that the series will never move forward – and why it was in the first place.

It’s hard to enjoy this episode knowing what we know now

The behind-the-scenes issues permeate the episode’s impact

total, I find myself too focused on all the behind-the-scenes issues and tragedies to actually sit down and enjoy watching this episode Back. It gets especially difficult for me in the stretch when Dean flies back to the Razor crestLeaving us with Gref, Kara, and the mythol for a few minutes straight. All I can do is think about how none of these The Mandalorian The characters return to the galaxy, except perhaps the Mitral one day, and as the moment is likely meant to be even more potential Rangers of the New Republic Setup.
