What happened in Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode #8?
In episode #8 Kana gives a dazzling performance as Tsurugi
Season 2 Episode #8 of Oshi no Ko It begins with Himekawa asking Kana why she didn’t accept Akane’s challenge, to which Kana explains that someone needs to take on the role of coordinator to make sure the play comes together, especially with actors like Himekawa. and Akane who draw attention to themselves with their acting.
Himekawa then reveals that he doesn’t wear contacts on stage and acts based on his co-stars’ movements rather than their expressions, which aren’t visible to most of the audience either way. He also reveals that he plans to include an adlib in an upcoming scene, asking Cana if she can keep up with him.
Back to the game, Himekawa and Aqua cross blades on stage as Blade and Touki respectively. To counteract Himekawa’s emotional acting, Aqua takes a cold, emotional approach, seeking to create a contrast between him and Himekawa Instead of trying to compete with him on equal ground. Himekawa then executes his adlib, but Aqua covers for him instead of Kana, surprising the latter with his ability to improvise on the spot while staying true to his character. This indirectly signals to Kana that Aqua wants her to take center stage and play freely without worrying about the harmony on stage.
A flashback then reveals that Kana’s mother dreamed of becoming a celebrity and tried to fulfill this dream through Kana. However, she became sensitive to Kana’s popularity and often began to take out her frustrations on Kana, which led to her current anxiety about her career and her tendency to want to work well with others instead of outshining them.
However, Aqua finally manages to fire Kana, who finally unleashes her true potential as an actor to give a lively performance that leaves her co-stars and the audience in awe. Kaburagi even notes that despite Kana being known for her ability to cry, it was dazzling performances such as this that truly made her famous, while Akane fangirls over Kana’s performance.
The focus then shifts to Aqua as Sayahime steps in and blocks an attack from Blade. Sayahime’s death marks the climax of the game as Touki is thrust into the spotlight with her death. A short one Flashback reveals Aqua discussing his panic disorder with AkaneWho tells him to look for the trigger.
However, Gotanda has already deduced that the guilt over Ai’s death is what prevents Aqua from enjoying acting and triggers his panic attacks. Thus, Aqua is left with no choice but to stop enjoying acting and fuels his performance with his thirst for revenge instead.
Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode #9 will shift focus to Aqua’s character
