Warning: SPOILERS for Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2
Until Cobra Kai season 6 admits that Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser) vs. Tory Nichols (Peyton List) happened many times. In Cobra Kai season 6, part 2, Sam and Tory are team captains, representing Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai in the Sekai Taikai tournament. Nichols and LaRusso have 16 teams of world-class teenage karate fighters to face, but Cobra Kai never seems to get tired of Sam vs. Tory, even when the show makes a big deal about it.
Tory and Sam became blood enemies in Cobra Kai season 2. The violence between Tory and Sam was shocking, and their multiple battles culminated in a showdown in the finals of the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament, which Tory won for Cobra Kai thanks to Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) paying off the referee. Tory turned against Silver and reluctantly joined Miyagi-Do, with Nichols and LaRusso actually becoming friends in Cobra Kai Season 6, part 1. Yet Cobra Kai still fabricates reasons to make Tory and Sam fight.
Demetri calls out Cobra Kai for overdoing Sam vs. Conservative rivalry
Cobra Kai put Sam and Tory on opposite sides again
When the matchups between team captains in the Sekai Taikai Tournament of Champions are announced on Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 10, “Eunjangdo,” no one is surprised when Tory and Sam are set to be opponents again. An exasperated Demetri Alexopoulous (Gianni DiCenzo) tells the audience when he jokes, “Sam/Tory chapter one billion…that’s less than ideal.” It seems that Sam and Tory, who have become friends, can’t escape fighting with each other.
In the 10 Cobra Kai episodes from season 6 so far, Tory and Sam fought three times despite the two girls putting their personal animosity behind them. Sam and Tory had to fight for the captaincy of the Miyago-Do team in Sekai Taikai. They tangled again in the Sekai Taikai egg protection challenge and tag team match to enter the champions round. Sam and Tory’s next scheduled confrontation didn’t happen because of the all-out brawl that resulted in Kwon Jae-Sung’s (Brandon H. Lee) accidental death.
Sam vs. The conservative rivalry should have ended after Cobra Kai season 5
Even Sam and Tory don’t want to fight with each other anymore
There’s an undeniable chemistry between Mary Mouser’s Sam and Peyton Nichols’ Tory that makes them compelling rivals, and perhaps Nichols and LaRusso live up to the adage of “good friends, best enemies.” Still, after multiple battles, Cobra Kai should have ended with Sam vs. Tory Forever in the Season 5 Finale when they teamed up to take down Terry Silver. Cobra KaiSeason 6, part 1 finally saw Tory and Sam apologize and bury the hatchet.
LaRusso and Nichols, and Cobra Kaithe public, deserves a lasting peace between Sam and Tory, just as Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena) and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) discovered. Instead of, Cobra Kai Season 6 created a reason to get Tory back with John Kreese’s (Martin Kove) Cobra Kai, so she has to fight Sam again in the Sekai Taikai, which drew eye-rolls from the show’s characters and the audience.
Zara is an infusion of new female blood to rival Nichols and LaRusso that was sorely needed.
One of Cobra Kai The smart moves in Season 6 Part 2 were to introduce Zara Malik (Rayna Vallandingham) to antagonize Tory and Sam. Zara is an infusion of new female blood to rival Nichols and LaRusso that was sorely needed. It is unclear whether Tory vs. “times a billion” will happen in Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 3, but at this point, there is nothing left that needs to be resolved or decided between Nichols and LaRusso.
