Although both shows are part of the shared One Chicago universe, Mitchell has no connection to Halstead other than being played by the same actor.

The producers made no effort to differentiate the two physically

It would hurt the show if the audience criticized Mitchell because they thought his behavior was uncharacteristic of Halstead.

How FBI: International can ensure that Soffer’s Mitchell grows out of Halstead’s shadow

The more FBI: International Can differentiate Mitchell from Halstead, the easier it will be for the audience to make the transition. It will be helpful for the writers to keep the characters’ feelings about Mitchell replacing Forrester, because it will give Safer’s new character a lot of opportunities to prove who he is and ensure the audience that he is not a carbon copy of Halstead. In addition, during the early scenes, Mitchell can mention aspects of his backstory that clearly differentiate him from Halstead, such as the fact that he has never been to Bolivia and never worked with his ex-wife.
