One year later, new evidence supports the most exciting Ahsoka theory of all

Summary

  • Runes translated from Ahsoka’s premiere reveal a cryptic message about “the three” possessing great knowledge and protecting “a secret path”.

  • The “three” probably refer to Mortis gods: father, son, daughter, and the translated rhyme may also point to Abeloth’s possible emergence.

  • Abeloth could serve as a significant threat that Baylan Skoll was looking for in Ahsoka season 2, especially after the Mortis gods of the first season.

New evidence of Ahsoka Supports the most exciting theory for the upcoming second season of the show. As seen in the last Star Wars show, the titular Ahsoka Tano and her apprentice Sabine Wren traveled to another galaxy to rescue the long-exiled Jedi Ezra Bridger while also keeping Grand Admiral Thrawn from returning. However, last season ended on a big cliffhanger, and a new tease could be hinting at what lies ahead for Ahsoka Season 2.

Various runes can be seen and translated over Ahsoka and its eight episodes. A new runic alphabet seemingly meant to be what the canonical Sith Tongue (ur-Kittât) is derived from, fans have been able to translate and discover hidden messages and Easters. This includes the list of planets on the pathway to Peridea seen in Ahsoka End-credits sequence, as well as the Nightsisters’ temple on Peridea with references to Kujet, the Zepho sage who has a temple on Dathomir. however, A newly deciphered translation of Ahsoka Premiere seems to support one of the biggest theories about Ahsoka Season 2.

A Cryptic Grammar Pointing to Peridea (and More)

Arcana map room in Ahsoka

Just in time for the show’s recent one-year anniversary, runs of Ahsoka Premieres are translated that are found in the Nightsister stronghold on Arcana (where Tano recovered the star map to Peridea). The translation reveals a cryptic message, one that could have some fascinating ramifications for the future with the upcoming Ahsoka Season 2:

There were three who made the journey, without whose knowledge there is no return. A way connecting near and far, crossing the heavens star to star.

Despite great powers that object, the secret way the three protect. So watch the way with a watchful eye, for if you wander, you will die.

On the surface, it might be assumed that this puzzle is simply about the pathway to Peridea. However, references to “the three” make the translated message much more compelling considering how Ahsoka Finale ended with Baylan Skoll.

Having abandoned his apprentice Shin Hati, Baylan also abandoned his service to Morgan Elsbeth and Thrawn shortly after setting foot on Peridea. Because he felt a presence calling to him, Baylan was looking for a greater power he believed that the great mothers were trying to escape from. This led School to the three large statues at the end of AhsokaThe very “three” this new rhyme is probably referencing.

The “three” are most likely the Mortis Gods

The father, son, and daughter

The three statues seen in Ahsoka Finale are none other than the Mortis Gods, celestial anchorites who represent and directly affect the Force itself. First seen in The Clone Wars Season 3, the father represents the force in balance, tasked with keeping his children in check with the son representing the dark side and the daughter, the light. While the father wanted Anakin Skywalker to take his place as the chosen one, events transpired where the daughter was inadvertently killed by the sun, probably explaining why her Peridea statue in Ahsoka is damaged while the other two remain intact.

Ahsoka herself also has key connections to her daughter, having been resurrected by her celestial power after the sun poisoned and corrupted Tano, the most likely reason why the daughter’s convoy Owl Morai can always be watching over Tano. Based on this new runic translation, the Mortis gods seem like the most likely candidates as “the three” who possess great knowledge and serve as protectors of a secret path (perhaps the world between worlds). However, the poem also points to a new danger, which supports the biggest theory about the dark presence that is apparently called Bailan: Abeloth.

There is only one power that can threaten them – Abeloth

The Secret Mother of Star Wars Legends

Abeloth in Star Wars Legends shows her disturbing smile with teeth

While the three Mortis gods are part of the official Star Wars Canon, there are parts of their story that are only told in novels that have since become part of the non-canon legends. This includes the human woman who joined their family and became the mother. Fearing her own death and increasing age among her family of immortals, the mother drank from the forbidden fountain of power and bathed in the pool of knowledge. This turns the mother into the immortal being of chaos and entropy known as Abeloth, forcing the son and daughter to come together and lock her away.

However, Abeloth would be released each time the flow of the Force was altered, restarting the process over millennia where the son and daughter would work together to contain her once more. After this, Anakin’s refusal to replace the father and the daughter’s death saw Abeloth eventually break out during the New Republic era in LegendsBecoming a threat that was faced by Luke Skywalker, his Jedi students, and a lost tribe of Sith who all came together to defeat Abeloth and save the universe from total annihilation. To that end, perhaps Ahsoka is setting up a canonical adaptation of the original Legends story with Abeloth also breaking into the New Republic era.

Abeloth certainly fits the bill as the true danger referenced in this new rhyme, assuming it’s really about the Three Mortis gods. She is the biggest and only true threat to the Force in its entirety, as she is capable of ending the entire universe. Although it is still largely conjecture for now, the setup in Ahsoka Finale with the Mortis gods combined with this new translation certainly supports all the Abeloth theories for Ahsoka Season 2.

Ahsoka Season 2 is currently in development. A release date has not yet been announced.
