Jon Kent becomes DC’s newest villain and Superman’s living nightmare Absolute power #2
Jon’s cyborg form is teased at the end of Absolute power #1Where he was shown, tied to a metal plate, soaked in blood, which stained his clothes and his skin. Wires and tubes run through his body. This image captured Jon in the midst of his cyborg transformation – a terrifying fusion of flesh and technology. However, the Jon that fans meet in Absolute power #2 is even more thoroughly altered, bordering on unrecognizable, except for the distinctive elements of his Superman suit that remain.
Very little of Jon’s Kryptonian flesh remains, as most of his body has become a cybernetic mess, with only a third of his face and his hair recognizable. Among the most striking changes are his glowing eyes, which flare ominously when he powers up. However, the most significant difference from issue #1 to issue #2 is Jon’s brainwashing and reprogramming took full effect, leading him to attack both his fellow heroes and his father. Despite Superman’s best efforts to reach him, Jon remains unreachable. As a result, Jon Kent became DC’s latest villain, at least for now.

“Contact Us”: Cyborg Jon Kent has a terrifying new power
In addition to its change in form and fidelity, Jon has gained a terrifying new power – the ability to transform others into cyborg monstrosities. This is demonstrated when Flash uses kryptonite to subdue Jon, who then begins calling his dad, making Superman believe that Jon may be breaking free of Waller’s influence. As Clark approaches and cradles his weakened son, asking how he can help, Jon latches onto Superman and whispers, “decide us,” before grabbing his hand and initiating the transformation process to turn the Man of Steel into a similar cyborg creature.
Flash manages to sever the connection before the transformation can take hold, but fans are left with the chilling realization of Jon Kent’s horrifying new power and the life fate Superman almost suffered. For the time being, Clarke is not affected physically by what happened between him and Jon. However, it won’t be until Absolute power #3 or the Superman Tying in issues fans will actually get a sense of whether or not Jon has infected his father with some kind of bio-cybernetic virus.
Absolute power #2 is available now from DC Comics.
