What happened in the Thousand Year Blood War Part 3 Episode 8?

Mayuri Faces the Left Hand of God

Mayuri summons her Bankai, Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo.

Captains Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Zaraki, who ended up separated from the main force of the Soul Reapers, went deeper into the city until they encountered Pernida Parnkgjas, which left Zaraki perplexed and made Mayuri curious. After Pernida nearly killed Zaraki by destroying his arm, Mayuri incapacitated her fellow captain for his own good, preventing Zaraki from fighting. Mayuri deployed all sorts of bizarre techniques on Pernida, thwarting her attacks with relative ease. Mayuri, intrigued by Pernida’s unique nature, attempted to capture the Quincy for experimentation, only to discover that its regenerative abilities prevented this.

Mayuri even employed a Quincy technique, the Hirenkyaku, against Pernida, allowing him to generate footholds in the air like the Quincy do. When Pernida’s nerves infected him, Mayuri quickly performed surgery on his own arm to extract it and rearrange its nerves. Mayuri ended up summoning her modified Bankai, Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo, which gave birth to a giant baby that apparently devoured the now enormous left arms and ended the battle.

Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 Episode 9 Does Not Chase Shadows

Captain Kyoraku faces Lille Barro

Sniper Quincy Lille Barro hides in a building in Wahr Welt.

Episode #9 of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War part 3 is titled “Don’t Chase A Shadow”, which shares its name with chapter #645 of the manga. This chapter sees the focus return to the main group of Soul Reapers, who are currently under fire from Quincy sniper, Lille Barro. Lille has already managed to eliminate some Soul Reapers and is well hidden, making it difficult to even determine its location. Captain Kyoraku will take on the duty of stopping Lille and freeing the others to continue deeper into the Wahr Welt.

Of course, even if they manage to overtake Lille, there are still other Sternritters out there, like Gerard Valkyrie, who could become almost as much of a problem as Lille if given the chance. And this is all assuming that Pernida is down and that Mayuri’s battle has truly come to an end. The Soul King’s Left Arm may prove to be a more powerful opponent than Mayuri anticipated, and who knows how many tricks Mayuri has up his sleeve.

There are other stories out there to check out too. Ichigo’s group is currently in battle with Askin, while the Sternritter bandit, including Bazz-B, is plotting their own revenge against Yhwach and Haschwalth. It will be interesting to return to these fights as well, and there is still the question of Renji’s fate after being defeated by Uryu to resolve. There’s a lot going on Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War now, and each of these fights will matter.
