Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Boy Wonder #4!I’m officially ready to forgive DC for its crimes against my sanity, thanks to Juni Ba, who just delivered one of the best Bat-Family moments between Robinred ruby, NightwingAnd Red Hood What I have ever read. If you’re a Bat-Family fan, I can guarantee this will become one of your favorite Bat-centric moments too.

This Damian Wayne moment reminded me of one of my favorite quotes about family from Disney’s Lilo & Stitch: “This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It’s small, and broken, but still good.”

June BA The Boy Wonder #4 has quickly become one of my favorite comics of all time, and I doubt anything will dethrone it anytime soon. This issue continues what I believe to be the best Robin-centric story of the decade, offering a fresh take on Damian Wayne’s origins and his relationships with his brothers – all from Damian’s own perspective.

Robin hears the voices of his family urging him to be brave

Issue #4 is particularly gripping as the youngest Robin once again falls into the hands of his grandfather, Ra’s al Ghul, who views Damian’s newfound growth as a weakness –A weakness Ra’s attempts to ‘fix’ by trying to force Damian back into the bloodthirsty ways of the Al Ghuls..

The Boy Wonder #4 officially cured my DC-inflicted trauma with a shout-worthy Bat-Family moment

The Boy Wonder #4 Damian Wayne 2

Despite Ra’s attempts to lure his grandson back to the dark side, Damian resists with the help of his mother. Together, they embark on a journey where the young Robin must confront physical manifestations of his guilt over those he has ranked. One of the ‘ghosts’ is the man Damian Bighead in Gotham. The spectacle tries to accuse him of giving up his own life. Overwhelmed by shame and grief, Damian almost allows the man to decapitate him with his own sword. However, at a critical moment, Damian gains clarity and fights back.

Damian’s decision to fight back is driven by the memory of his brothers’ encouraging words, reminding him that he has a family worth living for. Reflecting on his reasons for not giving up, Damien says, “I have siblings who care about me. And I’m not able to show them that I care too… I don’t know if I deserve to be among them… but I want to try. This moment is significant character growth for Damian, Showing that his desire to improve is rooted in the kindness and faith his brothers showed him. It’s also a powerful Bat-family moment, highlighting the positive influence his brothers have on him.

The Boy Wonder #4 Damian Wayne 3

This issue reminded me of one of my favorite quotes about family from Disney Lilo & Stitch: “This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It’s small, and broken, but still good.” It may sound silly, but I see so many parallels between Damian and Stitch. Both come from unforgiving environments, are viewed as ‘bad’ by many, and struggle with behavioral issues. However, they become better versions of themselves because of the families they find. June Ba truly outdid herself in crafting such a beautiful and believable Bat-Family moment, one that perfectly captures the essence of Nightwing, Robin, Red HoodAnd Red Robin Relationship.
