Warning! Spoilers ahead for Venom War: Spider-Man #3!Peter Parker Spider-Man he never had a stable family life. After his parents died, he was raised by his aunt and uncle – at least until his uncle also died, which filled him with heroic duty. Things got even more complicated in adulthood, with Peter’s story spanning marriage, demonic annulment, and alternate universe children. However, when Spider-Man takes his final form, at least his daughter is next to him… so she can kill him.

Marvel Poisonous War sees Dylan Brock, Eddie Brock and Peter Parker fight for control of the Venom symbiote. When trouble begins, Peter is in possession of an alien life form and is thinking of containing it to prevent Brock from becoming a monster. Pondering this possibility, Spider-Man envisions a future in which he retains the symbiote, becoming the new King in Black. However, he is also opposed by a group of heroes, including the mysterious Arachnioth.


Venom War: Spider-Man #3: Arachniote/Spider-Woman attacks with sword and Stormbreaker, shouting: "What future?!" Inside the symbiote is May Parker, the daughter of Peter and MJ.

It turns out that even Peter Parker is not immune to the corruption that comes with becoming the King in Black, with heroes like Star-Lord, Hulkling and Iron Man pitted against him. However, it is eventually revealed that the most powerful of all is Peter’s daughter wearing her own symbiote to stop her father.

In this world, Mary Jane Watson bonded with a superior symbiote known as Arachniote. They even had a daughter, although after MJ was ultimately consumed by her terrifying symbiote, their daughter May fled to the Grootspace Guardians of the Galaxy. Peter’s grief and power turned him into a tyrant, destroying all the heroes sent to stop him. In a final attack to save the universe from Spider-Man’s control, the remaining heroes recruit Peter’s daughter, who takes up her mother’s mantle. Tragically, Since Peter doesn’t know who wears the suit, he kills his own daughter in rage.

Arachniote is terrifying with its claws, tentacles and sharp teeth., and she even wields Beta Ray Bill’s legendary Asgardian hammer, Stormbreaker. When she tells Peter that his grief over MJ has pushed his daughter away, she also tries to tell him that he hasn’t completely lost her. However, Peter’s family upbringing enrages him and he stabs Arachniote before she can reveal her identity. Fortunately, this horrific vision is enough to convince present-day Peter to return the symbiote to Eddie and Dylan.preventing this future from happening.

Fans’ brief glimpse of Peter Parker as the King in Black shows just how flawed Marvel’s most selfless hero can become, and how family can become his Achilles heel. However, this also interestingly means that Peter’s daughter May may yet be born. May is the potential daughter of Peter and Mary Jane who was erased when the couple traded their marriage to Mephisto for Aunt May’s life. Subsequent stories revealed that Mephisto made the deal because he feared that Spider-Man’s daughter would one day defeat him for good in an attempt to prevent her own birth.

If she could become an Arachniote, it seems that there is still a possible future in which May is born, and the battle with King Peter in Black goes even further, pointing to main a heroic fate awaits in the future. For now, May has prevented Spider-Man becoming a tyrannical king in black, and she did it without even being born.
