In addition to including scenes of Zeus in the original material, Thalia’s inclusion in season 2 likely means Zeus will be incorporated in new ways that weren’t in the books. Season 1 already set a precedent for this by adding scenes with Poseidon (Toby Stephens) before Percy (Walker Scobell) discovered he was a demigod.
Even though Reddick only appeared in Percy Jackson By the end of the first season, his performance as Zeus left a lasting impression and provided the presence and gravitas needed for the formidable character. Vance is a strong casting choice who can make the character his own while also building on and honoring Reddick’s memorable performance.
