The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as their name suggests, have always been ninjas, but Leonardo’s redesign takes this title to the next level, going all-in on shinobi visuals. Since the TMNT generally reside in modern New York City, they tend to adhere more to modern trends – albeit with a ninja twist. Here, in narutoIn the ambiguously feudal setting, Leonardo is dressed in traditional shinobi attire that any Konoha ninja would wear. Leonardo looks cooler than ever with his new mask, and conveying intimidation alongside the imposing Sasuke Uchiha is no small feat.

Leonardo’s redesign is more than a stylistic choice, as it has surprising links to naruto tradition.
