Peanut is perhaps the most iconic franchise in history, and there is one main reason: its characters. Of course, characters like Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock are clear standouts (especially in terms of competitiveness), but they’re far from the only characters to make an impression. Peanut such a pleasant experience.
Another Peanut A character that has become a fan favorite since her introduction in 1966 is Peppermint Patty. Peppermint Patty Gives Newbie Terrible School Advice
Peanut – September 5, 1984
Peppermint Patty is a notoriously terrible student who is known for simply sleeping through class, so it makes sense that she was held back for a year. What doesn’t make sense, however, is Peppermint Patty’s unearned confidence in her abilities as a student, especially when it comes to advising new kids. In this comic, Peppermint Patty tells the new girl, Eudora, to do what she is doing since Patty has taken this class before.
Connected
The next panel shows the two of them sleeping together in class, with the new girl following Peppermint Patty’s terrible advice to the fullest. What’s funnier than Peppermint Patty thinking she can give school advice to anyone is when someone actually takes it. — and this funny and absurd comic has both.

Snoopy’s brother Spike has little sense of his own sanity (and it’s funny)
Peanut – September 9, 1984
Snoopy’s brother, Spike, lives in the desert after a traumatic experience with his previous owner. Of course, if anyone asked Spike, he would say that he doesn’t live alone in the desert because he is surrounded by “friends.” His “friends” are cacti.
The apparent lack of a swimming pool in the desert is somehow the least of Spike’s worries, since all the competitors are cacti. – is physically unable to participate in any racing. Indeed, Spike’s grasp of his own sanity is tenuous at best, and it’s funny to see.

Peppermint Patty keeps giving poor Eudora terrible school advice.
Peanut – September 10, 1984
During Peppermint’s quiz, Patty reads the first question out loud to herself and Eudora, then turns and asks the new girl to write “True” as the answer. Apparently Peppermint Patty took this test last year and entered “False” as her answer and misunderstood the question. So the correct answer had to be “True,” as Peppermint Patty herself says: “I never forget the lies“
Of course, knowing Peppermint Patty, this “helpful advice” was probably another example of passing on terrible advice to someone who doesn’t know any better. Peppermint Patty sleeps in class every day – how will she remember the correct answer to the test she failed a year ago? There is absolutely no indication that Peppermint Patty knows what she’s talking about.and that’s what makes this scene so funny.

Marcie misses the Peppermint Patty in her class, but remembers the experience easily
Peanut – September 11, 1984
Before Peppermint Patty was put on hold for a year, Marcie (not Eudora) sat behind Peppermint Patty in class. In this comic, Marcy remembers the good old days when that was still the case, when she missed Peppermint Patty and wished she could still sit next to her at school. However, the comic also shows that Marcie has no trouble remembering babysitting Peppermint Patty. All she has to do is imagine the sound of snoring in front of her, and Marcie will practically grasp the entire experience.
Peppermint Patty’s entire school legacy can be summed up in one snoring sound.since that was basically all she had to offer to the class, and seeing it through her friend’s eyes was just hilarious.

Marcy dives deep into an imaginary ‘school experience with peppermint patties’
Peanut – September 17, 1984
Marcy apparently misses Peppermint Patty sitting in front of her so much that she keeps imagining the experience – as if Peppermint Patty had died and Marcy just wasn’t ready to let her go. Indeed, Marcie refers to this memory of Peppermint Patty as a “ghost” (even convincing Franklin that the table was actually haunted in the previous comic). In this comic Marcie decides to interact with the memories of her friend by pretending that she was awakened by disembodied snoring. just like she did with Peppermint Patty.
Peppermint Patty isn’t dead, she’s just not in this class anymore, but Marcie seems to be going through a pretty complicated mourning process.
Missing a friend is one thing, but Marcie may be taking it to an unhealthy level. Peppermint Patty isn’t dead, she’s just not in this class anymore, but Marcie seems to be going through an elaborate mourning process that comically borders on delirium.
Peanut – September 26, 1984
The Peanuts gag in which Charlie Brown is about to kick the football Lucy is holding but Lucy snatches it away at the last second is as iconic as it is hilarious.. However, this “football joke” might top it all. Snoopy and Woodstock play football while Snoopy waits for the match to start. Woodstock runs up and hits the ball as hard as he can… but the ball doesn’t budge. Meanwhile, Snoopy remembers why he hates the start of the match so much.”My arms are getting tired!“
Appearance Woodstock struggles to kick the football, but Snoopy complains that his arms are getting tired waiting for him.it’s just funny. It may not be as iconic as the Charlie Brown and Lucy football gag, but it’s no less funny.

Snoopy’s concern for the welfare of falling leaves is hilariously adorable.
Peanut – September 29, 1984
One autumn day, Snoopy decides to sit under a tree and watch the leaves fall. But then Snoopy realizes that these leaves are putting themselves in immediate danger by falling to the ground like this, as they face a “horrible” fate: being raked. Snoopy tries to warn the leaves about the terrible “guy with a rake”, noting that no one ever tells them about it. Unfortunately, the leaves don’t listen, leaving Snoopy stressed as he watches them fall to their inevitable death.
The fact that Snoopy is so worried about falling leavesand thinks that the leaves being raked into piles and then packed into bags is somehow sinister, it’s not just funny, it’s just adorable.
3
Spike finally found enough water for his race (just not in the most convenient form)
Peanut – September 22, 1984
In an earlier comic, Spike wants to have a swim race with all his friends (cacti, again), but runs into trouble when there is no water around them. In this comic Spike is caught in a torrential downpour. It’s easy enough to fill the pool, thereby fulfilling his desire to have a swim. Unfortunately, all that water just soaks into the barren ground, and the bit that doesn’t soak in not only makes Spike soaking wet.
In reality, Spike’s dream of swimming could never become a reality for a number of reasons. And this comic hilariously points out that water shortages weren’t the main problem.

Sally is not the accomplished poet she thinks she is, and Charlie Brown knows it.
Peanut – September 25, 1984
One afternoon, Charlie Brown approaches his sister Sally at home while Sally is doing homework. She tells Charlie Brown that her assignment is to describe the sunset, presumably in the form of a poem. So, Sally gets to work and writes the sentence that she thinks best describes the sight of the setting sun: “The sun went down red as a banana.“ Although Sally is clearly pleased with what she wrote, Charlie Brown simply leaves without saying a word.
The poem itself is so absurd that it is impossible not to laugh while reading it.
Not only that Charlie Brown is speechless over how terrible Sally’s poem is extremely funny (especially since Sally has a very high opinion of her writing), but the poem itself is so absurd that it is impossible not to laugh while reading it.

Peppermint Patty is back in her old classroom and Marcy is very happy.
Peanut – September 20, 1984
It seems the school decided that Peppermint Patty’s delay was a mistake and corrected it by promoting her along with her original class. This meant Peppermint Patty and Marcy were in the same class again.and Marcy was very happy. Even though the experience was exactly what Marcy had imagined, she explains that Peppermint Patty’s return was still great because “At least it’s new snoring, ma’am, and not repeats…“

Perhaps the funniest part of this comic isn’t the fact that Peppermint Patty keeps sleeping during class (or Marcie’s happiness at hearing Patty snore again), but the idea that Peppermint Patty was apparently so disruptive in junior year that that her Master simply decided to push her forward to get her out of there, which ends up being good for Eudora. This comic does a great job of highlighting who Peppermint Patty is, which is why it’s one of the 10 funniest Peanut comics that just turned 40!
