1000 Pound Sisters‘ Tammy Slaton has lost a significant amount of weight since receiving bariatric surgery, but received disappointing news about her desire to have skin removal surgery. When the beloved unscripted series premiered in 2020, Tammy climbed onto an industrial scale and discovered she weighed more than 600 pounds. The number shocked her and worried her family, but Tammy only seemed to get worse. She couldn’t stick to her diet, drank too much and avoided exercise like the plague. When season three rolled around, Tammy weighed a shocking 725 pounds, which was her heaviest.
Although Tammy seemed to have no intention of losing weight, a health scare landed her in the hospital and scared her into changing her life. After waking up from a week-long medically induced coma, Tammy focused on losing weight. She worked on treating her food addiction, had bariatric surgery and lost a whopping 500 pounds. Since then, Tammy’s life has been completely different. She went from being a prisoner in her own home to living an active life, but there’s much more than that. 1000 Pound Sisters the Season 6 star wants to accomplish.

Losing so much weight so quickly left Tammy with a lot of excess skin. In addition to appearance, it diminished Tammy’s quality of life. There is so much extra skin hanging between her legs that she has to walk bow-legged. Although Tammy is eager to have the skin removed, her doctor wants her to lose more weight first. Skin removal surgery involves several different cosmetic procedures, carries many risks, and costs a fortune. Talking to The mirror, clinical nutritionist Kate Hilton said that the the risks are significantand the costs are astronomical. Kate thinks 1000 Pound Sisters star would need to undergo about five separate surgeries that would take several hours each. THE the total cost can be a mind-boggling $85,000. Even though she’s a television star, Tammy probably can’t afford expensive cosmetic surgery.
