In this film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Jessica Drew of Earth-332 and Spider-Man 2099 are the creators of a new version of the Spider-Society, a team of Spider-Heroes from across the Multiverse. in Spider Society #1 by Alex Segura and Scott Godlewski, Earth-332’s Spider-Woman is one of the few Spider-Heroes saved by Madam Web from the new team of multiversal villains, the Evil Squadron.
This is the character’s official first appearance on Earth-616, Marvel’s main comic universe continuity, as her first comic appearance was in Edge of Spider-Verse #4, but that was a flashback that took place in her home universe.
The existence of Spider-Woman makes the multiverse even more complicated
The version of Jessica Drew first appeared in the pages of a comic in edge of spider-verse #4, written by Nilah Magruder with art by Marcus Williams, but it was in her own universe. If the logic of the character’s appearance in the film and in Spider Society #1 is to be followed, Earth-332 is implied to be an animated universe outside comic continuity, and the art depicting the events of the comic is just that, a depiction of those events. If one sees the Jessica Drew with an adventure, unless it is animated, it cannot be accepted as reality.
