Kathryn Hahn made a name for herself in the MCU with Agatha all the timeand that only made her other Marvel villain role even better. The character Agatha Harkness was first introduced in WandaVision as Wanda’s nosy neighbor, Agnes. Hahn’s interpretation was so successful among fans that Marvel ordered a solo spin-off series. The series certainly won’t be the last time fans see Agatha, as her ghost form was created to accompany Wiccan on his journey to find his brother.
Agatha’s popularity among MCU fans is undoubtedly due in part to Hahn’s incredible portrayal. No one could have brought the character to life better than her, which is why viewers were so eager for her return later. WandaVision. Mainly because she was considered a villain, Agatha was a breath of fresh air. However, Agatha is not the first time Hahn has played a Marvel villainand the success she’s having with her latest role only makes her first one even better to watch again.
Kathryn Hahn has received a lot of praise for Agatha all along
Agatha all the time was well received by critics and fans, evident by both parties’ 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Episode 7, “Death’s Hand in Mine” also holds the record for the second highest-rated episode of an MCU show, with a 9.1 rating on IMDB. Many already consider it one of Marvel’s best series to date, as well as a return for the studio after a few lackluster shows. Every member of the cast and crew had a part in this success, but Hahn deserves a lot of recognition for his role.
Without Hahn’s stellar performance in WandaVision, Agatha all the time perhaps it would never have come to fruition. Even if the studio had always planned a solo series for the character, it probably wouldn’t have been a priority on the list if there hadn’t been a huge demand for Agatha’s return. Not only did Hahn nail his comedic timing throughout the show, but he also she also expressed a range of emotions that made Agatha a very complete and sympathetic character. Thanks to Hahn, Agatha has earned her place as one of the MCU’s most intriguing villains.
6 years ago, Kathryn Hahn played another Marvel villain
Although Agatha is Hahn’s first MCU role, she played another Marvel villain six years ago. She voiced Doctor Olivia Octavius in 2018 Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versewhose true identity turned out to be infamous Spider-Man villain Doc Ock. The villain didn’t survive the film, but anything is possible with the multiverse, meaning fans don’t have to entirely rely on a potential Spider-Verse return. However, with his success and commitment to Agatha now, it might be best to keep Doc Ock as a great keepsake.
Hahn’s portrayal of Doc Ock in Into the Spider-Verse lent itself well to his eventual MCU character. It’s no wonder Agatha’s sarcasm and wit were conveyed so perfectly, as Hahn already proved he could do it in his Spider-Verse paper. She knew what it took to play a dramatic and flashy superhero villain, and even with some similarities between Agatha and Doc Ock, Hahn managed to make both villains completely unique. Hahn is getting well-deserved flowers because of Agatha all the timeand that will make looking back at his first Marvel villain role even better.
